KayaBear

Travelling across the Arctic is always a dangerous journey that only the most experienced can ever hope to accomplish. Although most of barren, ice-covered fields up north are mostly silent and desolate, a few creatures live both on the surface of the fragile ice you might be treading and under the cold, frigid sea right beneath you. Seals are the most obvious of these creatures, along with belugas, arctic foxes, so on and so forth. Then there are polar bears, including beasts like Kaya.

If ever you'd happen to stumble upon such a hulking bear, then you might consider yourself done for, unless you were very lucky. The white, fuzzy polar bear looked like it was in perfect condition. Its perpetually full belly hinted at just how successful he was in hunting. Kaya runs surprisingly quickly; quick enough to outrun your sleigh dogs. The ursine knows how best to capture his meals. Usually, he goes straight to eating your team of canines, knowing that they can run much faster than you can. Then, once he's done with all of them, he'll go after you, knowing that you can't have gone too far.

In the empty plains you're stranded in, there aren't usually many places to hide. Kaya has a very sensitive nose, and he can track down meals miles away, especially if they're strangers to the nordic realm he reigns over.

If you're smart enough, you'll realize that the bear is quite demonstrative and shows signs of understanding and being able to respond to anthropomorphic emotions. Of course, he can't talk, but there's something in him that makes him look just smart enough that he might be able to learn a word or two and use them with others, if he doesn't devour you whole first.

Whatever you'll attempt to escape the boreal predator's clutches, it'll have to be quick. Kaya's hunger knows no end. In the world he lives in, he never knows when he'll get to eat next. The ursine is larger than your average polar bear; its jaws can probably stretch a bit wider too. At least, under that thick coat of fur, under the fat the animal has gathered with meals like you, and under the walls of Kaya's stomach, there's bound to be some wamrth, if ever you got too cold while lost in the taïga.

Appearance

Kaya looks like any other male polar bear might look like. Obviously, he's big, white, and fuzzy. Of course, there's more to him than just that. With all the food he gets to eat, he's slightly bigger than most other polar bears. As such, he reaches about 4 meters in length and weighs about 1.1 metric tonnes. Oftentimes, he can be seen boasting a full belly. If not, you best take cover as soon as you can. His belly radiates a bit of warmth, a feature that is often appreciated by the people he doesn't devour.

An interesting feature to point out with polar bears, in a place like this one, is that their tongue and most of their inner jaws are purplish in colour, but you probably already knew that. The same goes with the bear's member; its colour is even darker than that of its tongue with a length of about 11 inches.

Personality

It would be hard to describe Kaya's personality given that he is a feral animal. Of course, he does have one even though most of it depends on the people around him and how they react to the bear's presence.

First off, he is a very daring animal. More often than not, strange creatures he has never seen before will be met with the purpose of determining whether they make good food or bad food. Even though some of the people he meets might seem edible, he doesn't always gobble them up at first sight. Sometimes, he might just be up for some games. If he gets along well with whoever he is currently meeting, then he might befriend it and follow that person around a bit protectively. Even though he can't speak, he is more than able of demonstrating affection. He isn't against the idea of mating with a creature that isn't of his own species either, if the person is worth his time.

Another thing worth mentioning is that Kaya is incredibly smart for an animal. He might be able to learn a few tricks like opening doors in order to reach hidden prey. He is a master at unclothing potential meals. He knows how to climb on board vessels travelling through certain straits. As such, he can probably be taught a few things if persevering enough. Whether he can be domesticated or not is a mystery, but he already knows how anthropomorphic society works to a certain extent. He has already been seen nodding or shaking his head at a few basic questions. Even though he might not answer verbally to anything he is told, Kaya does look like he understands a few different languages- that of the locals and that of the scientists that occasionally take their time to study Kaya and his strange habits. He's a very interesting person worth knowing, and by the looks of it, the animal has gone through lots of experiences that makes him one of the very best guide when going through the North.

History

It's very hard to uncover the past of a creature that can't communicate conventionally. No polar bear has ever reached Kaya's size. His way of life is unique to the region. As such, it's safe to assume that he has gone through different hardships than the rest of his kin has.

In order to learn what Kaya has seen and witnessed in his life, then you'd probably have to sit down and ask him a few questions, analyze his reactions, and take a guess whether your assumptions were right or wrong. Because Kaya's past is so nebulous, many local tribes have treated him like a legend passed on for generations; then again, he isn't the only big bear out there in the Arctic. Maybe if you asked one of the huskies living in the small fishing communities many days from where Kaya lives, then you might get an interesting story, but once again, you'd probably have to separate fact from fiction.
