What can I say?
Koukuji_Family likes catching monkeys.
(Note: He's not actually chibi, just to clarify. The image is more of a reference)
Once upon a time there was a white circus monkey that got a hold of a special helmet. This helmet made the monkey incredibly intelligent, and with his newfound intellect, he rounded up all the other monkeys, outfitted them with similar helmets, and set a grand world domination plot into motion. However, the wicked ape was brought to justice by a boy with spiky hair, and the helmet was confiscated. ...Yet somehow, the monkey got his hands on the helmet again on two more occasions, re-attempting his takeover in new ways, but was again stopped by more spiky-haired kids and their assorted gadgets. Those gadgets were the key to defeating these simians, like the Monkey Radar and especially the Time Net. What kid
wouldn't want to have cool stuff like that?
Well, these two kids heard all about those cool gizmos, and they wanted 'em!
Li-Shan was fortunate to be born into a very wealthy family, and pretty much had nearly everything he could ever want. And whatever he couldn't buy with money, he made himself from scratch, as he was as brilliant as he was rich. Every other day, he'd have some sort of crazy invention to show off to his parents, who were either curious or annoyed, depending on the nature of the contraption. Despite his smarts and his wealth, he didn't have any real friends growing up, until he met a young street urchin around his age named
Clive. The other boy was greatly intrigued by his creations, and Li was happy to pay for anything Clive may need. The two became fast friends.
I bet now, you're wondering: "But wait, if he's so smart and inventive, couldn't he make his own gadgets like those?" Well, that's the thing. He
did try. ...And failed. He's never actually -seen- the gadgets first-hand, so he's got no clue how they actually work. ...Well, except the RC Car, obviously. If only he could get his hands on them and study their inner workings... Well, that's where Clive comes in! One day, the two boys went over to the lab where those gadgets were made, and Li had his friend sneak in and snatch them for him. But when he came back, he was only able to get his hands on a pair of Time Nets. It wasn't much, but it was a start!
Now with a base to work with, Li started tinkering away. First, he took it apart to learn just how this gadget does what it does best, then reassembled it while making a few tweaks to the design. He figured he may as well make his own alterations to the net while he was at it, doing the same to the other net as a reward for Clive helping him and just being a friend. The newly-modified gadgets were redubbed 'Space Nets', and now transport those caught in them to a rather... unorthodox place: the wielder's stomach. He can be friendly, but Li's a mischief maker at heart. That, and it helps him sneak snacks when his mom isn't looking.
'Course, he IS just a kid, and the tables can quickly be turned, with or without that net...
