Once, she held the kingdom of Zin-Azshari at her fingertips, lording over the people known as the Highborne. Elven magisters, tall and wise. She was strong and fierce, a cunning and manipulative elf that ruled over her arcane-empowered lands with immense bounty. At least... until the oceans crashed down, and she - with her kingdom's denizens - were swallowed by the sea.

In this fated moment, along came the avatar of an ancient being. A god, sealed away for innumerable crimes, madness, and darkness. He was both beautiful and ugly, terrific and terrifying. It offered her a choice - let her kingdom drown, forgotten, or let it rise as an avatar of the abyss. More power could be at her very fingertips if she accepted.

The power was only the wax seal on the bargain. She accepted the generous offer. The bargain was struck, and all was changed. The fate of the world, at that moment, tipped in the favor of this god. His power began to embrace the drowning elves, melding their forms... faster, stronger, larger, more adapted to the water yet perfectly capable on the surface lands. And Azshara was the greatest benefactor of such a boon.

Now? She rules over her twisted people. Azshara's name makes anyone tremble, known only as a terror of the deep. So elusive, bathed in the dark of the trenches where light does not shine, and the might of an ancient god.

She is beauty. She is the world's most powerful mage. She is royalty, still. Occasionally lords over a Cherished_Respite.
