Adaru

Before me, nothing existed unless eternal... And I am eternal.

Gods and deities are not uncommon amongst this Nexus. Adaru, a Pagan Deity of Fear, is no exception to the rule. Though, admittedly, the title 'Adaru' has passed hands during various cycles through the possession of a sacred item that belonged to the original, a lantern that changes forms and projects images of fear, often driving those in possession of it to insanity or awakening the true potential of the wielder as a god or goddess of fear. This is the case for Velma Arvialla Noshvick, the latest to take up the role of Adaru by stealing the lantern from the previous Adaru during a time of weakness.

While she is a goddess of fear now, Velma's attitude and mannerisms during times where she's been properly sustained (via the terror of her victims) remain the same. The fact that she's a sadist normally, however, means that no one's particularly safer around her when she's behaving like this. Oftentimes she will use her lantern even at these times to alter her form or that of the environment to impose some sort of intimidation upon her chosen partner or victim. Occasionally, she'll even play along with the illusion to make her victims think that whatever is occurring is beyond control. Ultimately, though, the victims will face the same fate, often ending up devoured by Fear Itself, their souls stripped from them and forced into the Inferno within the Lantern, only to be released as a husk once all of their fear and agony had consumed them, leaving their soul a perverted shell of its former self... Or until she gets bored.

Needless to say, Velma is not a kind predator in the least, relishing in the schadenfreude.
