Adventure_Party

The Adventure Party is a part of the Speckled Sky.

It is easy to see the allure of a career in adventuring. Potential employers, those who give out quests, do not care about what you did or who you are. All they care about is what you can do now. It's the main reason the profession attracts able-bodied exiles, runaways, and former criminals. Being that adventuring poses the significant risk of death in the gurgling stomach of a predator or otherwise, a successful quest always pays well, which is another reason the profession has adventurers coming out of the woodwork.

Arguably the center of the adventure boom is the Locre Tavern. Every adventurer worth their salt has visited the tavern at least once. The food and drink is nothing special, but the two-story establishment being located smack dab in the middle of the bustling adventuring town of Bridge has certainly helped its reputation as the favourite watering hole of potential adventurers. Every day, adventurers from every corner of the continent congregate at the tavern to eat, drink, form parties, or seek out quests on the tavern's bulletin board. The dim ground floor of the place is always filled with the smell of ale and the sound of laughter, shouting, and drunken stories told by gloating knights who have just returned from a long day of questing.

The place sees hundreds of adventurers come and go each day. Every one of them has their own reasons for being there; money, glamour, or even just to eke out a living or try to start their lives over again. Adventuring isn't for everyone, though; this is evidenced by the fact that from the hundreds of adventurers who visit the tavern, very few return to quest another day. Those that do return eventually become regulars and make themselves home within the tavern's beer-stained walls. The regulars would like to think themselves invincible, but eventually their luck will run out, and they will run into a foe too strong, or a situation too perilous, or a beast simply too hungry for them to handle.

OOC

First of all, thank you for reading the profile! Below are some things of what to expect from this profile.

TL;DR Version

• Meant for multi-prey scenes with bad ends. Can play just one character, or can even play pred!

• I love setting, context, and description in an RP. That and interaction.

• Don't really mind post lengths, as long as there is effort put into it. I, myself, will at the very least post three or four lines.

• Flexible when it comes to settings, scenes, kinks, and preferences. If you have any interesting ideas, I would love to hear them!

Since I live in a weird time zone, I think it would be helpful if I had a clock showing my current time.

The Adventurers
Tragic backstory, what's that?

Name: Eleyna Attwood
Job: Priestess

One of the unwitting followers of the Church of the Iron Cross before it was exposed for the scam that it was. Those who had learned the secret of metal magic through the church were left trying to figure out what to do with the craft. Many turned to smithing, while others pursued other professions. Eleyna had figured out how to use the strange magic for healing and purification purposes, and tried to start a school to teach people how to do it. Unfortunately, she was branded as being affiliated by the Church and run out of town. Despite being a fairly gentle soul, she reverted to a life of adventure to fund her own studies.

Name: Laura
Job: Merchant

Laura may seem dopey at first glance, but then you learn that she can't tell you the kingdom she has come from. She says that Laura is not even her real name, because where she is from, a criminal's name is erased when they are imprisoned. She says that her crime was smuggling goods and secrets out of the kingdom, and on the day of her execution she was just exiled instead of hung. What she doesn't say is why she chooses a life of adventure when she is actually quite wealthy, and why she has intimate knowledge of the world as well as the weak points of certain kingdoms, and when asked, she'll just laugh and order another set of drinks.

Name: Mixota Intxausti
Job: Archer/Ranger

The high point of Mixota's life was when, as a young girl, she accidentally drove an arrow through the skull of an invading general from a rival kingdom while she was practicing her aim. The general dropped dead and his army scattered, and Mixota was practically a minor celebrity, lauded with awards from her kingdom's own military. She was eventually pushed to continue her training with a bow and arrow instead of going to school, but it soon proved fruitless as the girl was unable to qualify for her kingdom's own military. Thus, instead of a life of military duty, she had to turn to a life as an adventurer to pay the bills.

Name: Auranna Pirouette
Job: Dancer

Auranna was already well-known around town as a dancer-for-hire before her adventuring career got started. If one wanders around the town today, there are sure to still find her provocative flyers littering the seedy alleyways. She always received the highest praise for her dances wherever she was hired; in fact her flyers always touted how the gyrations of her hips caused time to slow down, and her dances caused people to drop to their knees. Her adventuring career began when a potential employer mistook her flyer for an adventure ad. She received a offer she couldn't refuse, and she found out that she quite liked adventuring after her first quest was over. With the job pulling more money than what she used to do for a living, Auranna puts her loot into the construction of a comfy estate in the middle of the town. With each adventure she completes, the plans for the estate just keep getting grander and grander.

Name: Valkriya Dodheimsgard
Job: Knight

Valkriya is the very definition of a living legend. All sorts of myths surround this warrior who hails from a northern mountain kingdom. Her Blackscale Armor is said to have forged from a scale that she had managed to chip off while she was fighting a massive snake demon in the Great Woods and allows her to resist the most ferocious of flames. Her Irukandji spear is said to have once been the claw of a deadly giant from the Grinid Basin until she hacked it off. She is said to have once fought her brother over the ownership of their kingdom, and even more myths and legends surround her mysterious sister, Erinys. Which is why it is probably a little surprising to see her knocking back mugs of beer in an adventuring tavern. Perhaps it is a bit more surprising that she is looking to be hired for any sort of odd job.

Name: Martella Mendoza
Job: Berserker

Martella is a massive thing, towering over most of the other people at the tavern at the height of 7 foot 8. She originally made a name for herself as a mercenary, perhaps most famously known for fighting for the kingdom of Riquita in their war against the kingdom of Gumamela. With her massive hammer in hand, she was known to make short work of her enemies, and even just the sight of her was enough to send soldiers running. After the war, though, she accidentally knocked down half the city with her hammer, which landed her in massive debt with the kingdom. With her betrayal well-known among the various kingdoms, she was unable to find work as a mercenary to pay off her debt. And so she turned to the Locre tavern for her employment options, the only place where her reputation does not precede the gentle giantess.

Name: Miss Alissa St. Clair
Job: Witch Doctor

Alissa's origins are shrouded in mystery. She doesn't talk about it and nobody asks. As far as anyone has been able to figure out, she is a noble from the far flung country of Multand, which might be true, except no one has ever heard about a family of nobles bearing the name St. Clair. At a young age she was sent to a conventional magic school to cultivate her innate skills as a magic user. There she grew fascinated with all sorts of magic types. Pyromancy, alchemy, necromancy, she wanted to learn them all, incorporating them into Multand's brand of magic that she actually was not allowed to practice anywhere on the campus. This 'research' often led her to dark places, and when the staff caught wind of what she was doing, she was expelled. Undeterred, Alissa found herself at the Locre Tavern, joining adventures to fund her research. The tavern also offers an array of subjects she can quietly nab and experiment on. Her open hostility towards the other regulars at the tavern doesn't make her any popular, and the other girls know to keep their distance from the mad witch doctor.

As much as Alissa would like people to call her a sorceress, her real talents lie in occult magic. The little shack she lives in is filled to the brim with bottles of bubbling potions, poisons and curses. On her walls hang all sorts of magical amulets and charms that have effects ranging from a slight improvement in eyesight to full scale transmogrification into some sort of beast, and those are only the positive effects. Her recent experiments in mixing her occult magic with with more 'proper' forms of magic have made her spells rather tame, but every once in a while when she is feeling exceptionally good on a quest, she will paint her face and use the traditional spells and curses that run through her family line.

Name: Zoe Adamoli
Job: Sea Captain

Zoe had already made a name for herself by the time she found her way to the Locre Tavern. Hailing from across the ocean, Zoe had a knack for always bouncing back whenever life threw her a curve ball. Most often those curve balls took the form of deadly mutinies, giant sea monsters and other, weirder incidents. Even when she had been stranded at sea and presumed dead, she always managed to find her way back to shore, just to immediately hitch a ride on another ship. Having been born in the mountains of some foreign island, Zoe first became infatuated with the sea when she accidentally stumbled into a fisherman's boat and was taken out to the ocean. Ever since then, the girl had gone out of her way to stowaway on ships just to get a taste of that salty air. Over the next several years, her compulsive adventuring and run-ins with other sea-faring folk allowed her to amass a massive fortune, respect as a sea captain and a fleet of ships. So... Why is does she spend her time in the Locre Tavern? Unlike the others, who usually have ulterior motives for taking quests, Zoe really does seem to do them just for the heck of it. She always gets a kick out of taking her ships out for adventure, and how else would the others do quests that require them to be out at sea?

Being a short girl, Zoe is not that physically impressive, nor does she use any magic. However, her years at sea as a sailor have made her body tough and nimble, and no one wants to be on a receiving end of her headbutt. In hand to hand combat, she is useless, though, so for protection she always carries a scabbard, a flintlock pistol, and a small, concealed dagger, for when things really start to heat up.

Name: Patricia Madlangbayan
Job: Explorer

"Hysa Edenheight?" she says. "Yeah, I get that a lot. People say we look remarkably similar. Nah, I'm just a simple explorer trying to make my mark in the world. I'm not as badass an explorer as her. I'm not some professor up there in that university in Braganza, and I certainly haven't cataloged thousands of species across the continent. Sounds amazing, doesn't it? She sounds like this amazing, extraordinary... Person. It's just a shame that she disappeared one day. You know all the stories that go around, she and her research team lost their lives trying to document a rare plant in the northern forests, or she was captured by one of the foreign kingdoms for trespassing on their land. You know what? All lies. The story I heard is that, when Braganza was still a hole in the ground, Hysa sunk a lot of money into it. She really thought that it would be this elven paradise, but as each day passed she saw how big and bloated the city was getting. You know how they say that the bigger they are, the harder they fall? Yeah, Braganza was getting pretty big, and Hysa knew something bad was going to happen, so she had to get out of there. So, one day, she just took her money, ran, and never looked back. Last I heard, she was in hiding. Changed her name. Braganza thinks she's a traitor, and if they ever find her, they'd stick a knife in her back... Or worse." At this point, she takes a nervous sip of her drink. "But, as I said, I'm just a simple explorer. The money I get here is alright, but the real reason I'm here is the places I get to go. There are rare creatures in places you wouldn't believe. And I can't exactly hire a team because of... Money stuff, so I hitch along with these other guys. There's nothing like free security."

Intensive survival knowledge and natural nimbleness are the most basic things an explorer needs, and she shows off these skills as if she has been exploring for years. She knows how to find water in the middle of the forest, she knows how to make a particularly juicy trap using just three vines and a snapping plant. Patricia never leaves home without her trusty rifle at her side, but she seems much more comfortable using a machete when the situation calls for it; she can tell you a hundred different ways to use a machete, off the top of her head.
