Most teenaged girls worry about gaining too much (or really, any) weight. Ae-jin Gangjeon is one of the very few that worries about losing too much of it.

Ae-jin looks like your stereotypical tiny Asian girl. Granted, she's even more willowy thin then most, but it isn't because she doesn't eat much. It's actually because her body is anomalous in that her metabolism is dangerously high and she must eat constantly in order to prevent her body from consuming it's muscle mass. Kwashiorkor is a constant danger for her and she has severe body-image issues because she's always stuffing her face at a time in her life when all the other girls around her are trying to eat as little as they can get away with.

High energy activities such as sports easily exacerbate the problem for her and as such, she is excused from gym class. But it also means that she can't join the cheerleading team, the track team, the swim team, the tennis team... any of the teams, really, and so she often finds herself sitting on the sidelines, cheering other people on as they do things that she theoretically can do well, but can't for reasons of her health. And she would be good at most of them, as well, because her metabolism means that she is strong and fast, her muscles having developed very quickly and very powerfully. Big things come in small packages, so it's said, and in this case, a whole lot of strength comes in a tiny Asian girl's thin little arms.

But Ae-jin has an even worse problem. You see, she gets... hungry. Not 'hungry' hungry, but she gets... hungry.

She has literally eaten a human being and it terrifies her. The girl was getting in her face about some petty thing, Ae-jin half blacked-out, and in her feral hunger, she just opened her mouth and... ate the girl. No one found out, but Ae-jin lives in sorrowful guilt over what she did. And how can she confess to such an outlandish 'crime'? How can she tell people that she swallowed someone whole like a python? She's terrified of what she did and of what she might do again, terrified of how people would react if they knew, and terrified that her first reaction to the experience was a profound sense of fulfillment.

Because for a little while afterwards, her hunger was sated, like it never had been before. And the feeling was good. But now the hunger is back and she's fighting against it again, stuffing herself with mundane food and trying to avoid doing things that would expend too much energy and make her hungrier then she needs to be. She shudders to think what would happen if she were to lose control in public, or even worse, while standing next to a friend or loved one! But her hunger grows. Sadly, it may only be a matter of time before the next urge overpowers her.
