Akkorokamui

Akkorokamui is a Japanese folk legend, which tells of a cursed villager woman, transformed into an octopus and banished to the sea.

Much of the legend is exaggeration and hyperbole, but like most myths, it has some basis in truth. Akkoro was in fact once a simple villager, until she was cursed by the sea gods. However, she has thrived in a way that no deity ever intended or foresaw. She is ever hungry, and delights in taking maidens, such as she once was, right from the shores and piers of their own villages, or off the decks of ships, often in front of their loved ones. She is all but immortal, possessing uncanny healing ability, and impervious to age. She typically presents as female, but is capable of switching her genitals, or using her tentacles as phallic objects.
