A young trainer from the Kalos region, known as "A-kun" to his close friends: a group of two boys and two girls from the same town as him. The boys aren't much for battle, one far more interested in dance and the other more curious about studying, while the girls are a bit better, particularly his neighbor and primary rival Serena. A fairly laid-back sort of boy who honestly isn't too interested in this new-fangled "Mega Evolution" thing... not that it stopped his neighbor and rival from challenging him over its power. And losing. So now he's roaming the region with his team and a Mega Ring, collecting new allies and doing his best to keep them all equalled out!
A few extra facts... Originally from the Sinnoh region, where his mother was a fairly famous mountain racer, he's rather fond of skiing and can handle swimming in almost any temperature of water. A somewhat ugly divorce prompted his mother to take him and seek out new scenery in a newly explored region, and as the only mountains were far, far to the north of his hometown, Amakuni was only too happy to set out on a Pokemon journey of his own when Professor Sycamore gave five young children five special rings... er, wait, wrong story.
Along the way, he dealt with Team Flare, who he doesn't like to talk much about, and when he does it's with a clenched jaw. There's exactly one person in the whole group he doesn't consider a supremely self-centered, utterly un-stylish prat, and his name can't be said here because of spoilers. At this point in his journey, their ultimate weapon has met its end, and their leader has vanished. Shame, that was the one person in the group he didn't want to let Loki use for a chew-toy. And then onwards, to the League... where even the mighty Champion fell before his team, Loki especially coming into his own against her ultimate partner. And... well, what happened next, is between him and "that man"...
After visiting the more northerly towns of Dendemille and Anistar, Amakuni decided to splurge on some warmer clothes; here's a snapshot of him showing them off... even if the photo guy seemed more interested in the Couriway Falls to the side...
Pokemon X/Y trainer alt of
Solan, code 3196-3257-5871, but for Arceus' sake ask before you go addin'...
Team:
(Note: There are ten listed here, Amakuni has six of these with him at any given time. Merlin and Quercus are virtually always in his party. Also, levels and moves are current to those held in-game, as of the last time I bothered to update this.)
Merlin (Delphox, male)
Fire/Psychic, lv. 61
Ability: Blaze
Nature: Sassy
Moves: Psyshock, Will-O-Wisp, Fire Blast, Light Screen
Item: Odd Incense
Amakuni's starter, and a rather powerful force to be reckoned with. Because of his strength and tendency to be at the top of the team in levels, Amakuni tends to reserve him for when most needed, but the magician Pokemon is almost never away from his side. Somewhat haughty, perhaps, but only because and when he's earned it.
Diana (Talonflame, female)
Fire/Flying, lv. 59
Ability: Flame Body
Nature: Mild
Moves: Flare Blitz, Roost, Acrobatics, Fly
Item: None
Amakuni's second teammate, a graceful and somewhat show-off-y bird who's happy to ferry him all around Kalos. Graceful even in combat, she hits first, hard, and beautifully enough to catch even Lysander's attention.
Ulmo (Blastoise, male)
Water, lv. 60
Ability: Torrent/Mega Launcher
Nature: Bold
Moves: Surf, Hydro Pump, Water Pulse, Dark Pulse
Item: Blastoisite
A Pokemon from the far-off Kanto region gifted to Amakuni by Professor Sycamore, he has eventually grown from the goofy Squirtle into a smug, confident, powerhouse of a Blastoise. His abilities make him a terror to reckon with and he is Amakuni's first choice to deal with flame or stone.
Gmork (Absol, male)
Dark, lv. 60
Ability: Pressure
Nature: Quiet
Moves: Future Sight, Psycho Cut, Night Slash, Strength
Item: Amulet Coin
A Pokemon from back home in Sinnoh, traded to him by an old friend. While originally standoffish, he has proven to be a loyal friend and far less of a terror than his ill-starred name might portend, except of course to those garish orange ne'er-do-wells.
Loki (Mawile, male)
Steel/Fairy, lv. 61
Ability: Hyper Cutter
Nature: Quirky
Moves: Play Rough, Stockpile, Iron Head, Sucker Punch
Item: Mawilite
A crafty, rare Pokemon found after hours of searching deep in Glittering Cave, one of the few teammates Amakuni actively tried to track down. Fond of nothing so much as pulling pranks, especially ones that involve getting under Amakuni's feet or nudging him at just the right moment to make him fall into a comical situation. Also occasionally has caught up an arm or leg in that big, warm maw and gulped it down for a minute or three, but hasn't attempted to actually
eat his trainer.
Littlefoot (Aurorus, male)
Rock/Ice, lv. 60
Ability: Refrigerate
Nature: Rash
Moves: Ice Beam, Nature Power, Ancient Power, Frost Breath
Item: Hard Stone
A Pokemon brought back to life from a fossil granted to Amakuni. Originally more brittle than Glass Joe, with time and frustration he's grown to a beautiful and focused combatant. Fond of coaxing Amakuni into nestling against his side at night, and is caring despite his habit of acting without forethought.
Sikanda (Doublade, female)
Steel/Ghost, lv. 55
Ability: No Guard
Nature: Hardy
Moves: Sacred Sword, Aerial Ace, Shadow Claw, Iron Head
Item: Eviolite
One of Amakuni's more terrifying fighters. Originally caught on a whim to fill up the 'dex and nameless, he soon learned just how determined the spirit-possessed blade was. Despite having a full team already, Amakuni gave her a name, an Eviolite to make her even more impossible to bring down, and a spot in his roster.
Ieyasu (Lucario, male)
Fighting/Steel, lv. 60
Ability: Steadfast/Adaptability
Nature: Hasty
Moves: Earthquake, Heal Pulse, Aura Sphere, Dragon Pulse
Item: Lucarionite
A Lucario gifted to Amakuni by Korrina, leader of Shalour Gym. The two met and bonded somewhat a number of times throughout the journey, but when Korrina offered him to Amakuni after her battle, his instinctive reaction was entirely to refuse. He had no desire to take away someone Korrina had raised and fought along with to the party of someone who had barely met him and wouldn't likely even have a spot for him.
The next time he returned to Shalour City, after his team being worn down too badly by constant battles to make it through the next route, Ieyasu was still standing on the top of the Tower of Mastery, waiting for him. Seeing that, Amakuni couldn't stand it any more, and brought him along as well, earning his first Pokemon with the mysterious power of
Digivolution Mega Evolution.
Yuyuko (Chandelure, female)
Ghost/Fire, lv. 61
Ability: Flash Fire
Nature: Mild
Moves: Flamethrower, Will-O-Wisp, Hex, Energy Ball
Item: Meadow Plate
One of Amakuni's most recent members. Stumbling around the ruins of Lost Hotel, Amakuni found himself pursued all the way down and back by a mysterious shadow. After a bit of fancy footwork and help from Ieyasu's powers, the offending Litwick was captured, and happily joined the team. Often conspires with Loki to pull off pranks, though sometimes after such a prank it's difficult to find her for a while...
Quercus (Xerneas)
Fairy, lv. 59
Ability: Fairy Aura
Nature: Lax
Moves: Horn Leech, Geomancy, Moonblast, Megahorn
Item: Pixie Plate
The great life spirit of legend, slumbering for a thousand years, captured while in his sleeping form and used for an unspeakable purpose...
And then a greenhorn with honey-gold hair wandered in, freed him, and promptly accepted his offer of challenge. Not only did he overcome Xerneas, he outright captured him in a bid to calm the great one's anger... now it willingly travels at Amakuni's side to see the world that 1,000 years has made Kalos into, and perhaps beyond...
