Born and raised in the nexus, Amelia has always been the type to keep on smiling. Not that there's actually much to be happy about in her position, of course. With her parents having perished in a plane crash and no other guardians to speak of, she was shipped off to the Nexus orphanage, ripped away from her former life. The children there weren't exactly mean, but they certainly weren't the nicest, most of them still heartbroken about ending up there. The entire building seemed to radiate a suffocating sense of loss and despair, a place seemingly devoid of joy. Amelia, however, didn't cry. Instead, she kept her head held high, and looked to the future. Of course the loss of her family stung, but she refused to let herself be miserable like the rest of the children there. Sure, the orphanage is poorly run and adoption rates are low, but where would giving up get her? Having been there for six months now, the other children look to her for support and comfort, something she's more than happy to provide if it will help them move on. She provides them with endless amounts of hope and encouragement that they'll one day find new families of their own.

In regards to her personality, Amelia is incredibly wise, at least for an eight year old girl. She never seems to act out the way most children often do when upset, never throwing anything resembling a tantrum. Despite this, she's still a child, and still acts accordingly when it comes to things like toys, sweets, and playing. She may be a beacon of joy and hope for her friends, but she's still one of them, playing pretend and leaving her homework unfinished until the last minute. She's not particularly smart or athletic, but when it comes to matters of the heart, there's no one better to have around. She's the type to make friends quickly, and carries with her an aura of innocence. Despite all her smiles though, she does have fears and desires, wanting nothing more than to find someone to call mom or dad. She does, of course, have more irrational fears, such as spiders and the dark.
