tl;dr: in his mortal life, he was the alpha wolf of a northern pack. all of this was so long ago that he barely remembers it, but he still remembers the desperation and pain of his pack's near annihilation in battle where he unfortunately didn't survive. all of that is from the before. the Andrius that is now lives to protect wolfkind, as he traded his soul to the anemo archon. he spends centuries at a time in a sleep-like state without a physical form. if, in his slumber, there is a threat to the wolves, his spirit will manifest a physical form and he will intervene wherever and however necessary. in addition to protecting the wolves, , as per his agreement with the archon, Andrius must also help defend the lives of any who wish to call Mondstadt home. his primary focus, of course, is always on the wolves, but if push came to shove, he wouldn't turn away someone looking for his help.

of course, in his original life, he was just a regular wolf. adjusting to life as a bipedal humanoid has been difficult. it seems his calling this time around has more to do with helping to repopulate the dwindling civilisation of wolf-folk. it isn't something he is particularly interested in, but the four winds must do what they're called to do.
