Aperture Science was founded as Aperture Science Innovators by Cave Johnson who also was CEO of Aperture Science. Cave Johnson became billionaire at first by his manufacture of shower curtains, a contract he had with all branches of the US military except for the Navy (may they all burn alive) made him a successful and rich man. From Aperture Science came the Aperture Laboratories, a complex set of underground facilities, both old and new. Aperture Science was known for being in competition with Black Mesa. |

| Aperture Science made the portal gun thanks to their portal technology. They also made GLaDOS (Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System) the now fully sentient, immortal and science loving AI driven computer system that operates the Aperture Science facilities. And that's a lot considering that the underground facilities of Aperture Science goes for miles in the Earth's crust and are just mind blowing in terms of size! Truly impressive. |

There she is. She is the sentient, living computer system who is master of Aperture Science. She is obsessed by science and by learning, testing, creating and destroying things. Not much is known about her as she wiped off everyone who were in the Aperture Laboratories by the use of deadly neurotoxins. As such she killed nearly everyone who knew about her. Scientists were aware of the danger she represented and tried to make her behave by attaching cores to her. But in the end they were pretty useless. She does show any traces of humanity but on rare occasions, many of which are often fake. She appears to be merciless, cruel and sadistic at times, but that's only from a weak human perspectives. She is insanely intelligent and can create and manufacture powerful weaponry, high tech devices and much more. However, much of her potential is lost in the 'testing phase' which she appears to be quite obsessive of. |

GLaDOS is not really so alone in the facilities. She has a lot of other bots and such with her. Some of which are sentients, like the Aperture Science Sentry Turret for instance. They do come in handy some times. They have a deadly accuracy and are well behaved... when not filling you with holes. Some of them can offer a nice chatting, those are usually a bit defective though. They are loyal to GLaDOS and always do their best for her, like every other bots. They know what happens to bots that disappoint GLaDOS.  There is also the Aperture Science Weighted Companion Cube. Unlike regular storage cubes, the companion cube is actually sentient. An initiative taken by GLaDOS... it seems. If close enough to one, one may hear a soothing music coming out of it. This sparked friendship and love in the heart of most test subjects as the companion cube is more than often the only thing that won't try to harm the test subject. It will never betray you, and its affection for you will only grow deeper and stronger with each minutes you pass with it as it helps you, raises your moral or serve as a shield. GLaDOS seems to take fun into destroying those, meaning that friendship with one of them never lasts for long.  Besides the remaining bots, personality cores, etc. The two most reliable bots left are ATLAS (blue) and P-body (orange), the Cooperative Testing Unit. Those bots were used in tests requiring cooperation. They are a bit too human in ways of acting for GLaDOS' liking but they fill their purposes well. If one of them breaks, they can be revived in a new body in an instant. |

Well she knew that this body of hers had its limitation, divided in 3 major problems. First, her mobility was reduced to a single room. Second, the hardware that made her was made by humans and a lot of stuff was jammed into her to limit her action. Her experience with the core transfer made her learn that this body could get pretty troublesome. Third, this is a scientific project to create a more suitable body, and who says science says fun! With that she crafted this body herself, using DNA, cloning technology and jammed some hardware into this new body of hers to create a very reliable and durable body for all kind of situation. In case you're wondering, it is not 100% organic, but pretty damn near... ok maybe not so much but it will allow her to experience many things in a new perspective. Remote Control : Wherever she is, she has full control over anything her old body had control over, even more! Advanced Portal Device : She can make portals in a quick and accurate way. The size and shape can even be changed and the location doesn't have to be in her line of sight. They can also be made on any surfaces even thin air. Quantum space holes are now easy. Memory Backup : A backup of her memory is made and sent to her laboratory every now and then guaranteeing her survivability no matter what would happen to her body. Modified Body : Her body is made of science! She made sure to be top shape to be able to face anything and by anything she means anything. |
