Yep, it's about time there was a villain in this trainer swarm. Meet Marilla, a member of Team Aqua, the criminal/environmentalist organisation planning to utilize the legendary Pokemon Kyogre and expand the oceans of the world. Though Team Aqua has 'good' intentions, it's easy to consider them 'evil' at first glance, and Marilla's not helping the matter. She's devious, enjoys picking on weaker trainers, even nabbing a water-type Pokemon or two from them, if they strike her fancy anyway. Of course, Marilla is only a grunt, so she never gets assigned any 'important' jobs, but she actually holds a potential key to obtaining Kyogre for Team Aqua.
On a brief vacation in Sinnoh, Marilla stumbled across an egg. Though it didn't look anything like a normal Pokemon egg, being bright blue with what appeared to be a red jewel in the center. After carrying it around for a while, it eventually hatched into a Pokemon of legend mostly unheard of in Hoenn: a Manaphy. Perhaps it could somehow help tame Kyogre and bring it under their control. But, after spending some time with the newborn legendary Pokemon, she's somewhat grown attached to it in a motherly sort of way. So she did what any good parent would do in her position: teach the little Pokemon what Team Aqua's all about, and how to put a stop to any punk kids that get in their way! Though Marilla is a bit protective of little Manaphy, so it rarely gets to battle unless Marilla find a 'weak' enough opponent for it to train against. Otherwise, she makes use of her trusty Marill.
