Birth

Darkness consumed all spare a moving glimmer of light in the distance, slowly it moved leaving a faint blur behind it. A soft voice echoed in the darkness along the still corridor.

“Help, Please, Help me”

The faint footsteps of a woman lost in the darkness echoed, one step at a time.PAT, PAT, PAT then silence once again. The voice echoed a second time.

“Please help me, I was part of the tour, they’ve gone, disappeared when the lights went out .Please help”

Fear was obvious in the young woman's voice and the occasional sniffle and whimper merely strengthened this fact.

The light calmly danced once again as the girl gripped hold of the mobile phone where the beam emitted from, it was the only protection she had from her surroundings. Left with no signal at least it still proved useful as a torch and kept the darkness at bay, at least in her mind it did but the darkness seemed ready to consume at any moment.

“Please help me”

Calling into the darkness did not help the girl’s panic stricken mind, no one answered.Only the echoes of her cries responded.

The silence was broken as a sound beckoned ahead. A dripping sound almost like a tap not fully sealed, Slowly approached from the darkness no more than ten metres ahead of the girl. Not knowing what it was the young girl called out, hope for someone, anyone to answer.

“Hello?, can you help me?, I’m lost. My group disappeared, please help”

The dripping was silenced for a moment, an eerie breeze slithered past the young girl startling her. In hope that the young girl was not alone, she called once again into the darkness, there was nothing else she could do.

“Please, I’m scared”

The small beam of light from the mobile phone shuddered slightly as the young girl shook with fear. Shining the beam ahead, the lone individual felt much more alone after seeing that the corridor ahead was void of life. Her hopes had been crushed.

That was until she felt warm air blowing on the back of her neck. Slowly she turned, the dim light revealing a section of what looked to be translucent grey slime. Carefully the beam of light moved upwards as if hoping to see more but all the beam revealed was a large circular mass of what the girl could only describe in her mind as a ball of grey discoloured jelly.

This creature was indeed alive but how it came into being it did not know and neither did the girl before it. The greyish mass barely had a consciousness, it was fueled on the most basic of instincts,hunger and standing directly in front of it was the cure to this ailment.

The jelly like mass rolled forward suddenly consuming the girl entirely, the scared woman slowly faded into the mass along with her phone.

If it were not for the faint light on the LCD screen the creatures transformation would have gone unnoticed.

As the girl slowly lost consciousness within the slime slowly began to grow a form, one very similar to the prey it had consumed, a slow process but after three hours standing in the dark corridor was a shimmeringgrey beauty, a woman almost alike to another that had walked the darkness before. The original woman was gone but in her place was a beautiful creature, her skin a shimmering grey and her body soft and gel like. Arianne had come into being and her intelligence had grown with it....

The slime left her prison and escaped into the world, another predator to prowl the streets....
