Physical Description

Standing at 6’3’’ tall, Aurix dwarfs many humans thus making him an imposing figure among them. His body is well formed with a medium athletic build from years of activity. Weighing about 195 lbs, he’s a bit heavier than most, and well nourished. The half dragon is covered in lustrous iridescent gold scales. From most angles he looked to be covered in golden scales, but from the right angle they take on a reddish hue. Along his neck, chest, belly the armpits, the inside of his thighs and the underside of his tail the color changes to a creamy white color. The scales themselves are soft like leather, rather than hard as steel as seen in myth and folklore. They differ in size and shape depending where they’re located on his body, from small and miniscule, to the plate-like bands along his neck, chest belly and the underside of the tail. The scales along his limbs tend to be interlocking, and perfectly mould to his body shape and the way he moves.

The first thing one sees is Aurix’s head. Having a short, tapered muzzle that rounds over around the front, with two nostrils flush with the rostrum near the front and to the top and sides. The openings narrow and widen as he breathes in and out. His lips are thin, with miniscule scales covering them, giving him fine articulation of words. Hidden just behind those lips are his teeth, which appear to be a mixture of his two parents species. With nearly human-like incisors in the front, and four dragon-like fangs at either side of them. Farther to the back becomes human and dragon-like molars. His tongue and mouth flesh is reddish-pink like a human’s. The tongue itself is broad and tapered without a fork. The edges of the tongue are able to fold up, creating a channel in the center of his tongue.

Further up along his head, his muzzle gently inclines into the top of his head, with a nasal ridge that curves up and becomes flush with the top of his head. his skull concaves to either side, becoming the eye sockets where his two eyes are located. Open to their fullest, the eyes offer no visible white sclera, and are instead heterochromatic. While both ever a large blue outer iris, the inner iris of his right eye is green, while the left is golden. The blue gradually merges with the other two colors, leaving almost spike-like patterns in the merging of the colors. His pupils are circular like a human’s eyes. Just behind the eyes begin four protrusions. His two primary ivory horns, which extend out to about 1 and a half feet long the ends of which curve downwards to better protect the back of his neck. Just below the base of his horns are his semi-cylindrical, pointed ears which can flare out or flatten against his head depending on noise levels, or to express emotions in conjunction with normal human facial expressions. Along the top of his head, and between his horns, Aurix has a two diverging lines of hornlets, in between which is a line of feather forming a narrow crest that he can raise and lower at will. The crest feathers are red.

Continuing downwards, the underside of his neck is somewhat loose to accommodate for the movement of his head. While it does have a tightness to it, it does not readily reveal his Adam’s Apple. The back of his neck generally a stiffer, leathery like scales, while the front tends to have more loose bands that continued down towards his chest. His collar bone is somewhat visible even beneath his scales, with little fatty tissue covering it. His arms are human-like except for the scales that cover them, and the half inch long claws that end at their tips like human nails. While more firmly secure than a human nail, Aurix often keeps them filed down and blunted to avoid harming others. The scales along his shoulders are a series of interlocking plates that become scalloped plates along the outside and inner sides of his arms. The scales give way to tiny scales along his palm and the underside of his fingers, while the top continues to have leathery bands and plates.

His torso is covered mostly with plates and bands that interlock and stretch with his movements. He had a somewhat inhuman musculature, with smaller-human-like pectorals, with strange muscle groups for operating his wings around them. Though the muscles are barely visible under his scales and a layer of fat underneath the scales, giving him a very healthy but definitely not a fat appearance. The plates narrow and get smaller along his crotch, where hidden beneath one of them is a horizontal slit, and nearer the base of his tail is another hole hidden beneath a scute, in essence giving him a very decent looking appearance even whilst nude. Along his back sprouts his two wings. When folded, the wings are naturally lifted by elastic tendons to hold his wings upright and against his back. This keeps them protected and over of the ground. When fully extended, he has a wingspan of nearly fourteen feet. The leathery wing membranes have an iridescent golden sheen to them along the outside, though if one looked at them from the inside, one would see they’re semi-transparent. The wings are tipped with a single wing claw each, often using them to clasp his wings about himself like a cloak to get them out of the way while inside buildings and the like. Despite having wings, Aurix is incapable of true flight, and can only glide.

His legs are covered in larger, less flexible plates, except for the areas in which they need to flex and bend, giving way to small interlocking plates like those on his shoulders. The legs are semi-digitigrade, with large toes and pads on the underside of them. The feet have three large toes each, with a vestigial toe further up along his ‘foot’. Each major toe ends in a three inch long, curved claw which is often filed down and blunted like those on his hands. His tail sprouts off from the back of his hip, the flesh flush with his glutes, preventing the formation of an intergluteal cleft. The tail itself has a thick base, that tapers down its four foot length. At the tip of the tail is fur that grows a further six inches away from the tip of his tail. By the way the tail grows, he is able to sit normally in chairs, whether that be with his tail between his legs or not.

His genitals are hidden beneath a scute along his crotch. While not normally visible, the plate does peal back to reveal a horizontal slit when aroused. While the slit doesn’t get puffy, it does contain his penis inside of its shallow recess. Within the confines of the slit, it’s quite tight and is usually tightly closed to prevent intrusion by dirt or foreign bodies. Within is always a musky slime, which coats his flaccid penis. When aroused, his penis emerged from its housing, revealing it to be tapered from the base to the tip. The half dragon is well endowed with a seven inch long penis, though it can never truly get as hard as other males. The reason for the fact is that it’s prehensile, and he’s able to even curl it over along itself, or to pleasure his lover while not actually humping them. About five inches down his penis are two slightly bulging barbs. It’s pinkish-white in color.

Personality

On average Aurix is a gentle creature with a heart of gold. Beneath the scaly exterior is an individual who doesn’t seek to harm anyone, but who isn’t afraid of getting blood on his hands if threatened, or those he cares for are threatened. Aurix far more prefers to have sex with someone, be it male or female to blow off steam. Though that also means he’s less willing to get into a serious relationship with someone. He is often quite promiscuous with his friends and even his family. A loyal friend to have at one side for sure, the creature does often have a solemn expression from the constant hate he often receives from humans that simply don’t know him yet.

Abilities

Aurix could be defined as a sorcerer from where he’s from. But his elements do not adhere with the common preconception of sorcerers. At least those of mortal blood. Because of his mixed ancestry on his father’s side of the family tree, he has command over a mixture of fire, air, metal and other objects with which he attunes himself to. The latter of which often involved a ritual using his own blood. Though like any other sorcerer in his world, the half dragon runs the risk of severe injury to himself if he should ever overextend his abilities.

Aurix’s breath tends to be tied in with his sorcery as well. Able to breathe both fire and electricity, the half dragon may also control it to some extent. Though the range at which he can project or control his breath is limited compared to that of other sorcerers, usually just out to fifteen feet or so. Using his breath is often taxing for him, preventing him from doing so again right afterwards.

Because of his heritage with the Aos Sidhe on his father’s side, Aurix is a second generation changeling. As such he has the uncanny ability to regenerate his limbs and from injuries incurred on his body. While injuries may heal quite fast over the course of a day or two, limbs can be regrown depending on if he has plenty of food to eat available or not. The process can take a single week to several weeks depending on the conditions. Despite this ability, it does not prevent his death from bleedout, it simply allows him to never be crippled permanently.

He has minor knowledge of magician magic, and often keeps a book of spells on hand should he ever require their use. Like any magician who learns the trade, he must channel the energy to use this particular type of magic. For his inexperience, the half dragon usually has to take several minutes to chant and channel the magic into a useable form. Spells in his book often include healing spells, and utilitarian spells to help him and his companions.

The Family Sword

Aurix’s sword is very dear to him, belonging to his grandfather at one time, the sword is named Dulamath in honor of the man. The weapon is a hand and a half sword, with a blade roughly 36 inches in length, and a fuller running down the blade and stopping about six inches from the tip. The blade has a fine taper to it, before taking on a far more abrupt taper at the last four inches of the blade. The blade is sharpened from the four inches from the base to the tip of the sword. In the four inches that aren’t sharpened, is an engraved name ‘Erastu’. The crossguard consists of two quillions that gently curve upwards one or two inches from the end. Ornamentally, the quillions are made to resemble roaring dragon heads, with a ruby in one’s mouth, and an emerald in the other. The handle is made from a single piece of ash, with a carved raised ring in the middle to prevent one’s hand from sliding down from the primary grip, before the secondary grip begins. The pommel consists of a sturdy steel cage-like structure in which lies a beautiful oblong or oval-shaped sapphire that glows with magical energy. At one time it had been enchanted by Richard, Aurix’s father and was further enhanced by his mother’s very soul and Aurix’s blood to attune it to the second generation changeling.

Other Possessions

Often kept at his hip, hooked onto his sword belt, is a quiver of bolts and an usually unloaded crossbow. The crossbow’s draw strength is such that Aurix is often able to load it with one hand. But it does have a stirrup for those who can’t load it very easily.

He often carries with him a backpack, filled with many things that one would need on the road. Filled with five days worth of dried rations, a waterskin, some tinder for fires, corked vials of ink and a few quills with which to write with. He often packs some reading material for the road, and a bedroll on which to sleep at night.

Clothing

Aurix wears a few different types of clothes depending on the occasion, or he might not wear any at all. It all depends on the needs of the situations, and how casual he can be. When he does wear clothes, the most common attire he can be seen wearing is a blue and white tunic, with similarly colored leggings. On the last shoulder, and running down the sleeve is a red stripe, marking him as a lieutenant of the Vanguard. Often anywhere he goes he is wearing the colors of the Order. On his hands and feet, he often wears gloves of a sort. Since he requires the use of his toes to walk, he required a more flexible type of footwear. The glove-like boots on his feet are fur lined to keep him warm in the winter, though sometimes warmer clothes are required.

For times when he expects combat, a suit of custom fitted three-quarter plate armor is donned. The armor was specifically designed for his unique body structure, namely the wings on his back. Like most suits of armor like this, and his especially, he requires the assistance of another to put it on. It covers its upper body is segmented plates, and down to his elbows and knees, and even half way down the top of his tail. For his forearms, he wears bracers, and for the shins he wears greaves. Completing the set is an open faced helmet, fitted for his ears, and horns.
