Born a hermaphrodite (extremely rare among her people, though not unheard of), she dealt with a certain amount of prejudice and mistrust among her peers throughout childhood and adolescence. Upon reaching the age of maturity, Ava decided that she had no desire to live among others, making a life as a Ranger an obvious choice.
Ava lacks some of the natural aloofness natural to her race. Being on the receiving end of such disdain has given her a certain jaded view of elvish superiority. While Ava is surely a loner by nature, she enjoys conversing with other species and races, acquiring different world views.
