Under. Reconstruction. Bitches.
Those of you familiar with
Rodo may know that his world is subject to the Multiverse Theory. So it comes as no surprise that his particular breed of Nekojin, the Nekomahji, are not nearly as extinct as one would originally think. In fact, it's only in Rodo's own universe that they've nearly died out.
In Axel's universe, the human invasion on the underground Nekomahji Homeland backfired. Big time. The armies that came were wiped out and it started a war that lasted over a century before the human population was culled. They weren't completely wiped out, mind, but their numbers were heavily reduced, and to say that they lost the war would be an understatement. The following four centuries on the continent of Cruentus were relatively peaceful, despite the efforts of some meddling gods to stoke the flames of war; the acting Archmage went to extensive lengths to ensure that their meddling would cease. This prospect alone was the secret behind the founding of the Grand Academy, which was housed in what used to be the central palace of the humans' empire of Lavo. The magic of the various races, paired with the technology of the Drakil (Draconian Dwarves), sent the world into a new renaissance. The culture underwent rapid evolution and advancement as technology and magic melded and entwined, creating a prosperous society.
A content society. One that did not feel the need to honor or acknowledge the gods of old.
In a way, this had benefits and drawbacks. The gods of Cruentus were empowered by their followers, and while they were still rather powerful without them, they had far less influence in the affairs of mortals without their belief. The natural forces of the planet were left to tend to themselves in cycles that could not be controlled, monitored, or truly influenced by the deities unless they were actively present, meaning that they had taken far more active roles as caretakers and could not be left to their plots or ploys for power for particularly long periods of time, lest something went catastrophically wrong. For the most part, the deities were obliged to reduce themselves to cosmic caretakers; they were the literal parents of the races of Cruentus, and none could bear to see their children in peril, even if they were simply ignored by them. The Academy had won by winning the world's contentment, and thus creating obedient masses out of the whole of society, hooked on magitech.
Well, most of it, anyway.
Some Magi, including the current Archmage's own son, grew wise to the plot of the establishment. While they had firmly studied the old texts and knew the history of the gods' manipulation of Cruentus (meaning their current position was a result of their own hubris), they also began to dig deeper and realized the Academy wasn't exactly as benevolent towards all species of mortal as originally implied. Axel, being born to privilege as the son of the closest thing Cruentus has had to a high king in centuries, wasn't quite aware of how well he had it until it was pointed out to him by a few of his colleagues. They had drawn attention to the unfair treatment of both the Dryads and Humans within the capital to him. Determined to set things right, or at least even the playing field a bit, Axel's small group began to study interplanar magic, hoping to conjure up another Archmage from a different dimension to challenge his father and restore true equality.
Well, that was the plan, anyway. The portal they opened ended up scattering the magi across the Nexus, with Axel ending up here.
Even amongst the typical park-goers, the effeminate cat-boy tends to turn heads with his white and violet mixed fur and hair, and his blue-yellow eye heterochromia. He tends to favor clothes that do well to show off his lower curvature, and is particularly fond of bright colors and fishnets. Similar to Rodo, he dislikes pants for the most part. He's very outgoing and incredibly blunt about what he desires, though he's not quite gotten used to the customs of the area.
In a word, Axel'd likely be described as hedonistic. If it feels good, he'll probably end up enjoying it, even if the long-term repercussions are rather dire. He has the greater good in mind for most situations, even if the immediate results of his actions end up being less so for those involved.
So has he forgotten about his search for another Archmage? No. But he can't really do much until reunited with the other Magi. He may be skilled with elemental magics (Water being his specialty), but he's not a competent enough mage to open the portal home on his own. Hell, he didn't even really intend to end up here, and that was with the help of half a dozen other magi. So, while he's stuck, he may as well enjoy himself~
