Balis

In the realm of the gods, there are a set of laws that dictate 'limitations' to how deities may act among each other. To break any of these divine laws is to bring down the wrath of thousands of pantheons upon the sole or numerous members of the infraction. It is these divine laws that prevent a major alteration to time and reality, or keeping from the wholesale conquest of thousands of worlds through divine might. From the most noble and righteous of deities to even the most heinous, all deities are bound by these laws through blood. And it is these very laws that etched Balis into infamy among the Celestial Courts.

Tens of thousands of years ago, Balis was a renown lord to the Forces of Darkness. Vile, sadistic, and corrupt to the core. She brought her evil plans to harm and conquer millions across many worlds in the multiverse, but nothing that strictly broke any of the divine laws. It was the typical balanced struggle between good and evil... And then Balis did the unforgivable with the elimination of a stubborn rival. Permanently. So harshly so, that history no longer has a recollection of that deity ever having existed. She quite literally removed that deity from all of existence. It was such a savage and foul act, that immediately she was overcome by legions of gods from all factions. Her armies were defeated in a matter of hours, her entire pantheon in ruins within days. She was captured and put to a Celestial Tribunal and swiftly brought to justice. However, the same laws that she had defied, were also the same laws that prevented the gods from bringing the same fate upon her that she had damned another with.

So, they did the most 'humane' thing they could. She was to be reborn with an altered personality. A change of alignment that starkly contrasted her former, evil intentions. As such, a Derek and Joan O'Conlaigh were blessed with a unique child that was to be raised as a mortal on Earth until her 18th birthday. Up until that point, she indulged in everything possible to have the most mundane and average life to sincerely honor the mortals that had gifted her birth. ( Their previous child had been taken from them. ) For the initial 18 years, it appeared as the tactic had worked. The upbringing within a mortal world and environment helped to keep her darker nature subdued.

But as she came towards her 18th year, the gods peered from their lofty perches within the Heavens to see how she handled a return to divine lifestyle. Immediately, she transformed herself to her original, dark appearance and personality. The Gods readied to strike until Balis submitted before the Celestial Courts. She confessed that during her tribunal, to which she defended herself, she had proven once again as the Silver-Tongued Devil by only agreeing to stay of their forced personality for the 18 years. She had returned to her evil nature! And yet, she admitted willinjgness and intent to comply with the rest of the terms of her punishment. With permission from the Divine Council, she requested the formation of a new pnatheon and religion dedicated to honor and imrpove life of those within it. The Avenging_Church was formed.
