BasicBattles

Are they actually basic?

Each character has four stats:
10 points to distribute among the 4 stats with a max of 5.

Stats:
Strength: Attacking, Grappling

Dexterity: Tripping, Dodging

Devouring: Ingest, Swallow, Churn

Squirm: Escape, Struggle

================

Actions:
Attack: Roll a d20 and add strength. If this value exceeds 10 + target's Dexterity, then:
Inflict (1 Strength for 1d4, 2 for 1d6, 3 for 2d6, 4 for 2d8, 5 for 3d10) points to your target's energy.
On crit, double the number of dice.

Grapple: Roll a d20 and add Strength. If this value exceeds 10 + target's Squirm, then:
Target counts as Grappled.
On crit, immediately attempt an Ingest.

Trip: Roll a d20 and add Dexterity. If this value exceeds 10 + target's Dexterity, then:
Target counts as Stunned for one turn.
On crit, target is Stunned for two turns.

Dodge: Roll a d20 and add Dexterity. If this value exceeds 10, then:
The next roll against your Dexterity has to exceed 10 + (2 * Dexterity).
On crit, you may take another action.

Ingest: Roll a d20 and add Devouring. If this value exceeds 10 + target's Squirm, then:
Target counts as Being Ingested and gains 1 Ingestion Point (IP).
On crit, target instead gains 2 IP.

Swallow: Can only be used on a Target that is Being Ingested. Roll a d20 and add Devouring. If this value exceeds 10, then:
Target gains 1 IP.
On crit, target instead gains 2 IP.

Churn: Can only be used on a Target with Eaten:
Inflict (1 Stomach for 1d4, 2 for 1d6, 3 for 2d6, 4 for 2d8, 5 for 3d10) points to your target's energy.

Escape: Can only be used when Grappled or Being Ingested. Roll a d20 and add Squirm. If this value exceeds 10, then:
Remove the Grappled status or remove 1 IP.

Struggle: Can only be used when Eaten. Roll a d20 and add Squirm. If this value exceeds 10 + target's Stomach, remove all but 1 IP and the Eaten status. Gain Being Ingested.

=================

Effects:
Grappled:
Cannot Attack or Trip. For the first time each turn, if the grappled target does not get ingested after an Ingest attempt, the attacker may immediately attempt another.

Stunned:
Cannot act. For the first time each turn, if the stunned target does not get ingested after an Ingest attempt, add 5 to the roll and re-determine success.

Being Ingested:
Can only Escape. For each Ingestion Point, the target Being Ingested is deeper in their predator. If they reach 0 IP, they escape the predator. If they reach 3 IP, they lose Being Ingested and gain Eaten.

Eaten:
Can only Struggle.

=================

To Start:
Each player begins with 100 Energy. Roll a d20 and add Dexterity to see who begins. Whoever runs out of energy first loses. If a character runs out of energy while not Eaten, skip the rolls and eat that snack.

Outcome is left to predator, endo, full tour, digestion, or otherwise.
