History:

The entity that would become Beset first appeared centuries ago in a now ruined land... Where the Great Blight came from is up for debate, but many believe the plague to have been the handiwork of some unknowable, eldritch, elder-thing. Stories tell of how it tore through the land, assimilating or reducing all it came in contact with to twisted monsters or empty husks and how a young alchemist dedicated her life to synthesizing a cure. They say she spent years trying and it was all for naught. Nothing came close to curing it and so, in order to complete her self-appointed task, the alchemist sealed the blight and herself away through unkown means. The Blight was supposed to simply starve and wither after consuming its last victim, but it adapted and survived... Beset has no memories prior to waking up in that underground vault, but with her newfound body and intelligence, she escaped and now roams the world in search of whatever interesting experiences her new life has to offer her.

Personality:

Beset's true personality is hard to get a clear read on. She's a woman of many faces, able to perfectly mimic others in both appearance and behavior; something she does at every opportunity. Her entire personality can seemingly shift on a dime as she effortlessly slides from one identity into another. She can be sly and conniving one day and noble and selfless the next, all depending on who she's impersonating. Beneath it all, Beset is surprisingly friendly, gentle, and above all, curious. It's this curiosity that drives her to act the way she does and in her eyes, it's nothing but good-natured fun regardless of who's life she might inadvertantly ruin in the process. To her, there's nothing more fun slipping into someone else's life and experiencing the world from their perspective.

Abilities:

However, this talent of hers comes with a catch: she can only take on the forms of those she's devoured. As a result, Beset lives as something of a wolf among sheep. She spends her days masquerading as the latest individual to catch her fancy and her nights on the prowl for the next form to add to her collection~

((Rules dump! Can't really be bothered to write a nice attractive section for this at the moment, so here's the general gist: Beset's stomach acts differently from a normal one. Rather than being broken down into basic nutrients, her prey is absorbed body and soul. Once fully digested, Beset can freely take their form and peer through their memories as if they were her own. Beset actually has the ability to release her prey, reforming their body from her own and returning them to the world alive and well. It's due to this that Beset doesn't feel like she's doing anything wrong in eating people since they can always be returned later. Of course she's often loath to part with her favorites and those unfortunate individuals may spend a very long time bound within her flesh.))
