Bondsvestal_Veluca

"Freedom is an illusion, for the souls of all are bound to the gods. Only in submission can one find release." --Veluca, Bondsvestal of the God of Chains.

Left orphaned as a small girl, young Veluca was grabbed by a roving band of marauders and sold as a slave. After being traded around several times, she was eventually purchased by the Holy Order of Sacred Chains, coming the property of the God of Chains. She, like so many other children purched by the church (some say cult), Veluca was put through rigorus training. Possessed of a sharp mind and keen intellect, she excelled in the divine arts and thus she was one of the precious few that were not sold as chattle, but permitted to enter the priesthood and begin to be taught and contemplate the divine mysteries of her god. If she ever thinks of the friends that failed in their training, these days, it is to hope that they learned how to spread their legs obediently for their new owners, as proper bedroom pets ought.

The church is an organisation that believes heavily in stratification and is a vocal proponent of adopting a caste system to help ensure what they consider to be right and proper behavior. After all, if everyone is a chattle slave, whom, then, would hold the leash? There must be levels to everything, and the organisation is ultimately about order and stability. Of course, many nations and peoples find slavery to be abhorrant, though few are willing to turn away an established church, for they do speak for a very real god whose displeasure none wish to risk. So while the disciples of the God of Chains are often forbidden from practicing many of their tenants in a nation, it is rare that they themselves are forbidden from entering it. This, however, does not often stop them from practicing their 'craft' in the underworld of many nations that forbid slavery, and the church maintains ties with such undesirable elements of society such as thieves guilds, bandit clans, and smugglers.

Veluca has, since her acceptance, risen in prominance within the organisation. Her lot in life has considerably improved. Though she is a slave (as all of the God of Chains clergy are and must needs be), she has climbed the ranks to that of Bondsvestal, and her time is spent more and more doing administrative tasks, taming and training slaves, and going out on missions of importance to the church then it they are spreading her legs for the local Slave Crusher Superior. And given how she seems to be blessed by the Goddess of Love as well as the God of Chains, she was quite the favorite of her superiors.

Now a student of the third level of the God's mysteries, she has been permitted to learn his true name, and has begun delving the deeper mysteries. Occasionally, she is even called upon to provide her own interpretation of the ancient writings and her words may one day be influential in developing church doctrine. Of particular note, her theories have been turning human-centric as of late, espousing the idea that humans are the favored children of the God of Chains, suggesting that they are intended to be at the top of the heirarchy of races. This has, without a doubt, started to gain traction among the predominantly human chruch's clergy, whom have wrestled for centuries over just whom should be the slave and whom the master in this life before the gods call upon all to become their pets in the afterlife.
