Brine Gildchaff. If you were to ask that name to someone outside of his circle of friends (or outside the walls of the Rising Stones), it likely wouldn't mean anything. If, however, you were to describe, "a Lalafell of the plains with long blue hair, catlike green eyes, and bearing a circlet and a mystic sign on his brow", that might get a few memories sparking, of a rush of curative magics from afar in the heat of battle or a revival just before one was about to give up, and then a departure without a word.
That sums up Brine in a nutshell, or at least his usual actions when afield. One of the vast crop of adventurers seeking their fortune in the continent of Eorzea five years after the horrors of the Calamity nearly drove the land itself to extinction, this particular one is aligned strongly with the art of conjury, the art of drawing magic from nature that forms the basis of all white magic, and considers Gridania his new home. However, unlike the more traditional white mage, Brine practices what might be euphemistically termed "preventative medicine".
... In more frank terms, this means he beats monsters up. A lot. While naturally gifted with healing prowess as a conjurer, he has chosen to focus on improvement to the force of mind, allowing him to use the offensive powers of earth that conjury grants him to crushing effect. His skill as a goldsmith, allowing him to shape the metal and gems of the earth into jewelry that enhance the body and mind, has helped immensely with this. (He favors mostly ice and wind-aspected gems, though his recent discovery of the power of pearl to enhance both offensive and healing magic when shaped into a ring has shifted this slightly.) Additionally, he favors spells to force the enemy into one-on-one confrontations no matter how many there are, keeping the brunt of the damage away from the leader and allowing the white mage breathing room to lay on some damage of his own.
So, apart for his penchant for beating the stuffing out of monsters and giving random passerbys magical shielding? A fairly calm and focused adventurer, and highly thorough, doing all he can for the people of one place before scampering on to the next. The power of conjury is a gift to him, and he is determined to pass that gift on to those around him. He's also a bit of a fashionista; all five of his main crafting classes have a totally different outfit (and primary color) that he dons for them, and he'll accept a downgrade in crafting ability if it means not having to change that. He also enjoys helping out, and has a rather large stock of items at this point that he holds onto in case he comes across someone they would help.
At the same time, there's a dangerous streak to him. Those who have completed the quest "All Good Things" will know the sort of thing one has to do to wrong him... and those who wrong him will know the sort of wrath that only one who knows nature intimately can conjure forth.
... no, seriously. If he gets the chance he's gonna straight up eliminate her. Anger not the Lalafell. Unless of course he's in crafting clothes, which is about 80% of the time, because then he's mostly helpless.
