Once upon a time, there was a young girl, a peasant, daughter of peasants, who was taken captive and enslaved in a Vikingr raid. She lived her formative years among the barbarians of the norselands, and among them, learned many things. She learned to track, and hunt, and, when she found herself serving in the Jarl's court, how to fight, for the Jarl had many enemies. One day, one of those enemies struck, and in the chaos and confusion of the burning longhouse, the young girl, now a young woman, stole a ship and sailed home.
Her return was one of little fanfare. She found in her over decade-long absence from her homeland, her village had been abandoned, the land had changed hands, and a new lord, one who little knew of her family nor had interest in caring for his predecessor's strays- as the jarl she had just left behind, he had many enemies. With nothing else to turn to, she offered herself to the new lord as a sellsword. Such it was that she began her journy up the ladder of feudal society.
Now, the woman, approaching middle age, stands near the top of that ladder. General of soldiers, slayer of monsters, famed duelist....

It's a question the lonely woman asks often as she stares at the roofs of tents, the ceilings of manors, the roofs of barracks.

Amilie De Aigle is a knight come from peasant stock, one who's tales of glory and honor are often accompanied by a great and overwhelming loneliness. She has few friends, and is often mocked behind her back for being uptight and stiff- for of course none would say such things to an honorable knight's face, for fear of her famous temper and even more famous dueling skills. She is addressed with the highest honors of her station by her lord, attends many feasts, and is trusted with the most difficult battlefields, but for her prowess with blade and tactics, she finds her skill with people lacking.
However, Amilie is, for all her bluster and stiffness, is a hopeless romantic.
Tales of knightly romance, of poetry and devotion are what she craves, desires, needs. She wants nothing more than to be wooed... perhaps a slightly unreasonable expectation, given her own short temper and lack of social ability- but a girl can dream, yes~?
