"Hm... back problems? No no, for the last time, I'm built sturdy as an oak. Even if I'm not one."
Chrysanthemum Waincroft- or just Chrys for short, is a dryad- specifically a palm tree hamadryad. While most often the plant types are portrayed as earth and nature loving free spirits, in tune with nature, Chrys doesn't consider herself much of the sort- she lives in the city, for one. Not terribly fond of tree-hugging and the like, she mostly keeps to basic amenities a plant needs and lives her day-to-day life not unlike a regular person otherwise. Sure, the natural makeup of her body leads her to a slightly different life than other people, but... she gets by.
Of course, there are those minor differences... for instance, she really likes the sun. She doesn't eat as much as most people- but generally wants a certain amount of light. Sunlight is, of course, the best, but for when it's not out she owns sun lamps in her apartment. Such a basic necessity it is, that she works in a tanning salon to help indulge such needs if necessary. It's simply a fact of life to her- the sun feels good, and nourishes her. During Spring and Summer especially, she tends to be outside more often than not, or at least have windows open. She also tends to drink far more liquids than most people by her nature- she can still eat, but doesn't often out of necessity. Usually she only has to eat a regular meal once every two days! But of course, some eat for sustenance, and some eat for pleasure, and she understands the necessity of the latter. Of course, this leads to quite an appetite for odd things- as one might leave to their imagination, anyway.
"But Chrys, plants don't digest things! Except venus fly traps anyway, and other weird jungle plants. That's stupid. You're stupid." You might say, dear sweet reader. And you'd be correct- Chrys doesn't directly digest food, or anything for that matter. Rather, she absorbs the nutrients from things- mostly from her insides, which will generally suck anything left inside her dry slowly over time, left as a dried husk that breaks down and is absorbed into her inevitably. It's how a plant can live such a mobile, energetic life- she needs a lot of energy, but her body is incredibly efficient at breaking it down from a variety of sources. She can even do it via skin contact- but to a far lesser extent. While anyone within prolonged contact with her might feel a slight bit thirsty, that's the most detrimental they may feel around her. As for her, it does mean she can "Taste" things with any part of her body, to some extent- very mildly, but enough to understand basic flavors, as a sort of "taste/touch" sensation.
There are other small differences, too. Little things, like her always going barefoot and refusing to do otherwise. But most notably, she grows with the seasons: in winter, she'll be several inchest shorter and more thin overall, whereas in spring and summer especially, she'll get taller, bustier, and curvier overall. While she doesn't need to hibernate, and her leaves thankfully don't fall out come wintertime, she does tend to be much more sluggish and sleepy during those months. And yes, while it would be inaccurate normally, her breasts are generally full of milk. This is uniquely because she is derived so closely from coconut trees in particular- so yes, her breasts are full of coconut milk. They tend to fill quickly from food and drink, and most excess from her meals tends to go right to them, so she does have to milk them down from time to time. She does this in private, and won't talk about it much, other than that it's to keep her from "spreading seeds everywhere".
While her biology is confusing to most people, she is at heart still a normal person, lignification and all- She likes scary movies, video games, swimming and surfing, and trying new things. So say hello some time! She's perfectly normal, save all the leafy bits!
