Student Bio

To an uninitiated freshman, Claire seems like the stereotypical "goth chick" fantasy given legs. The black-clad catgirl certainly gives those vibes, mixing cheer-captain good looks with outfits pulled straight from Hot Topic's teen catalogue and her reflexive habit of disappointing daddy.

But much like the occult, Claire defies easy explanation. Claire isn't actually a proper goth: according to Maruac's "true" goths, she's really more of a "mall goth" — or worse, a poseur (which would rank with excommunication if the pope wore a black frock and fishnet tights). Claire isn't technically one of the "popular girls" either, though she's welcome at their parties and carries herself with the smug, self-confident attitude of one high up the social food chain. Somehow Claire has carved a nice niche for herself independent of highschool's usual cliques.

Only those who are especially tied into Maruac's complex social network know her secret: Claire is one of Maruac's best fixers — she solves problems people can't solve themselves. Though her "clients" are all sworn to strict secrecy, ample rumors make for free advertising: one third-year claims her potions helped hook a prom date; a freshman claims she would have been digested if not for Claire's charms. Claire, of course, will never confirm or deny anything. Ask about her "services," and she'll look up from her phone only just long enough to flash a mischevious smirk that asks "How much are you willing to pay?"

While it's hardly surprising a girl of her fashion would enjoy being edgy and mysterious, some wish she'd be a little bit more forthcoming. For each story of otherworldly success, there's another claiming her "magic" didn't work at all — or that her careless, unconventional techniques led to effects beyond her control. But no angry customer has eaten her yet, so there must be something to her magic tricks. Ultimately, Claire wants customers willing to take a leap of faith, and no one — from the lowliest freshman to Theresa Wolfe herself — knows quite what's in store once Claire gets involved. She might be outside Maruac's usual cliques, but once you pay, you're in her world...
