Back story- In the beginning, when the world was split into the three realms of heaven, hell, and earth, the splitting caused the creation of a new race of beings set apart from the creator's legion of angels and the destroyer's army of demons. This race was known as the Djinn. Their very birth was caused by the energy used to separate the realms, and they retained a great part of that power. The creator, after realizing that he gave birth to the third race, decided to put some restrictions on them. They could only use their power if some one asked, or within their own confined mini universe. When the creator made the fourth race, man, he decided that it was time to edit the rules a bit. They could only use their wishes if one of the fourth race asked, (he added this rule after realizing that if an angel or demon were to get power over a Djinn they would use its power to gain an advantage over one of the other races), and that the Djinn must fallow an order,no matter what until their master/mistress died, or passed on their lamp.

Clarita was one of the few Djinn ever to be born, Djinn are immortal, like two of the other three races, but since the Djinn are kept in their personal pocket universe 75% of the time, the chances of finding a mate are slim. But her mother and father found each other one day, and sparks flew. They only knew each other for a few days but their bond lasted for ever. Or at least so she's been told. A Djinn only stays with its mother until age 15 then it is separated into its own pocket universe inside its own container. Clarita lives in a bronze lamp,decorated with a single ruby on the lid where fuel would go in. She is usually content to sit around in her lamp , read, write, think about life, watch the occasional television program, when she's called to work however she tries her best to weasel out of things. If Clarita had a job in the real world, it would most likely be a lawyer, she can find a loop hole in almost any wish to make it work to her advantage. For example, once a human wished to have the Midas touch, she granted his wish but oh did he get a surprise next time he went to the rest room.

Djinn, in general, don't know what to think of their creator. Clarita isn't exactly the most devoted when it comes to religion, she feels her race was unfairly punished, put in lamps bottles and the occasional Pepsi can just because they could grant wishes and the other three races could not. Restrictions put on them just because they were born. Why? They never rebelled like the demons had, they had never done a thing to deserve this unfair punishment. She supposed that the creator had his reasons, but she doesn't agree with the decision, and she tends to disappear into her lamp when the subject of religion is brought up.


Powers-
There are only a few restrictions on a Djinn's wish granting abilities, but there are rules.
1) A Djinn cannot kill directly, they may grant a wish that may cause some one's death, like say granting a wish for a gun, but they cannot stop some one's heart
2) A Djinn cannot bring people back to life
3) A Djinn cannot make a human immortal
4) A Djinn cannot cause people to fall in love.
5) A Djinn cannot start the apocalypse prematurely
6) A Djinn cannot "Be set free" if some one makes this wish they simply release the Djinn from their 'employment' and the Djinn is taken elsewhere.
7)Djinn cannot grant wishes to demons or angels. Any angel found trying to ask a djinn for wishes will be cast out of heaven, any demon caught doing the same shall be confined to a deeper circle of hell and stripped of their powers, djinn is taken elsewhere in both cases.
8)A Djinn cannot change the rules.
