Coburn

Coburn is a mischievous sort to put it charitably. Kind of a huge jerk to put it accurately. Everything seems to go his way more often than anyone would have a right to, even when it defies all expectation. It's enough to make someone suspicious that there's paranormal forces at work about him, or that maybe they're losing their sanity. For his part, he shrugs it off. It's nothing more than his normal.

Unlikely accidents or chains of mishaps in his favor often collide with a talent stack that would be absurd even if what his latest victim witnessed was all he had, but it's so much worse knowing he has even more tricks lurking up his sleeve, or maybe in that downy mane of his. Everyone knows this insufferable kind of guy: anything you can do, he can do better, while doing something else besides. The very picture of obnoxious injustice.

It's hard to say what his aim is, or if he has any goals, the coywolf commonly found in a state of idleness or daydreaming. Maybe he's just a hedonist, sampling life's delights as they're presented. Or maybe he's waiting for the right moment to make some grand impact. His deeds are inscrutable and chaotic, sometimes wrecking someone's day with what seems like a helpful gesture, sometimes playing a prank that turns out to be a more pleasant surprise. And then, sometimes, making people disappear.

He's been witnessed on more than a few occasions stuffing someone down his ravenous maw, only to make them vanish like a magic trick; caring little for the consequences of being seen, as if nothing could stop him anyway. To be sure, he's made more exhibitionist displays as well, sliding hapless victims into his ass with similar effect, but even this doesn't do justice to how hazardous he can be. Some unlucky enough to cross paths with him have sunk wholly into his chest fluff, never to be seen again, or even seemed to just bump into him hard enough and wound up in a dark and endless void. One report claims he put his nose on a particularly skittish ferret and snorted him whole, but that might be a bit much for belief...

At least, until one starts to dig into the sheer number of rumors about him. Despite a penchant for gluttony, some claim he's able to perform scandalous acts of nothing less than sorcery, changing someone's species or gender or turning them into a cupcake, even controlling their minds or swapping bodies. And yet these tales always come from the more excitable types, short on details and always ready with backup accounts of fantastical feats if they aren't believed.

Some things really do need to be verified with firsthand experience.
