Kokoa had given Emerald a trip accross the sea, leaving him on the first island that had a town so he could continue to live with his new identity.
At the Age of 21, Emerald had set sail to become a pirate hunter and his first quest was to take back the ship that saved him from the pirate who had slain his village.
However when he came into contact with the SS Lightning now called the Coco Destroyer, he came face to face with his hero now turned villan, the one who saved him was now taking lives but he owed her everything.
Emerald would grant his sword using skills in order to aid his new Captain.

Chang was born on the sea, his father a filthy pirate, his mother who was raped and stolen to be stored on the pirates ship for pleasure.
Chang would be born and when he was able to walk, the pirates would put him to work, forcing him to clean, kicking him around, abusing his mother infront of him.
Chang couldn't handle the pain so he would one night take one of the pirates pistols and under the fool moon after he turned 6, he would put a bullet in the captains head, his fathers head before fleeing into the night on a small boat.
Chang would float through the ocean, no water, no food under the hot sun, minutes would turn into hours, hours into days and 14 days later, he would drift ashore in a town.
A chinese monk would take him back to the temple to help the child taking care of his wounds, hydrating him and feeding him once he awoke, letting the child recover before offering him to stay at the temple, to train to become strong and of course Chang accepted so one day he could save his mother.
Chang would train until he turned 18 before he left to look for his mother, taking a small ship he would travel the sea to fight pirates, defeating the captains in duels, 99 captains fell to him and each captain would give up their flags to sail the sea as a victim of the dragon.
3 years he was undefeated against pirates that was until he came up against his 100th pirate captain, Captain Coco of the Coco Pirates.
The duel did have a rule change however as weapons were allowed since it was on the Coco Destroyer and under the eyes of Kari and Emerald, they got to witness the defeat of the sea dragon when he was unable to stand while staring down the Coco barrel, he had lost.
Expecting death at the hands of the former marine captain, he was offered a hand instead to join the Coco Pirates.

Kiko's father and Grandfather had even helped create the SS Lightning the ship that Coco now owns.
There is a belief in the shipwright family that it's not what the shipwright creates, it's all about those who make a legend of those ships
Kiko was only 13 at the time but she had already surpassed all those before her, she had been hailed as a ship goddess, a prodigy, a special gift to ships of the future.
That's why it came to a shock to Kiko's family when their ship had returned in the hands of a pirate who turned out to be the daughter of the man who captained it while in the navy.
Coco had requested that Kiko joined her crew to take care of the ship after battles but of course, the shipwright family didn't want their prodigy of a daughter to die a meaningless death under the command of a thieving traitor turned pirate.
Coco had accepted the answer as she waited in town for the ship to be repaired, watching the family work hard on repairing her ship, even if it was stolen, they never reported to the navy that she was here.
Once the ship was ready, Coco and her comrades had set sail to head to their next destination but it only took a day to realize they had a stowaway on board, seems Kiko had left a note for her family before hiding on the ship, joining the Coco pirates as the newest member and the shipwright for the Coco Destroyer.

Kazumi was the son of the head of the sweets factory, having the secret of sweetness passed down to him at the age of 15, he would be the next in line to take over the factory.
However that day wasn't to come as it was invaded by the Coco pirates, their captain craving something delicious that only Kazumi's father could make.
His father however refused to make anything for pirates, no matter if it costed him his life and in result, Coco spared his life but in response, she burned down the factory, saying if she didn't get special chocolate, no one should.
