Corina is the youngest daughter of a rather peculiar family. What makes them so peculiar isn't their major business, a profitable and successful investment firm, nor the fact that there are currently four children in this family, most of whom have spread out in the region and are working on their own projects. No. What makes this family so peculiar and interesting is the fact that it is a money changer for the local mafia branch. Her father is more the background influence, finding people who could be good for the 'business' and giving them a leg up, acquiring favors and ensuring that money gets where it needs to be without a hitch. While standard procedures means that her father isn't high on the totem pole, he still has regular contact with the family, keeping up his personal relationships with the many who he's found to be a benefit to the Community.
Her family has been at this for a while, but still, one of their greatest successes was pioneered by her grandfather. He discovered someone who could be of benefit to the family, attempting to start up their own weapons business, with ideas that could revolutionize the industry. He wasted little time in financing this man's business venture, helping to surge the Lasalle family into prominence. Over the following hundred years, the two families have remained close, even as Lasalle advances higher in the ranks of the Community. It was during Corina's father's time that they really lept into prominence, acquiring a particularly hard reputation among the other members of the Community, as they swiftly and almost perfectly removed a traitorous family from the world, leaving no evidence to reveal what had truly happened. In addition to their weapons manufacturing, they were given the role of enforcing the laws of the community. Should anyone attempt to break this covenant or whisper of doing so, they would be made to vanish most effectively, and the Ducard family would clean up any details that may have been missed, providing an alibi as well as laying down a false trail, in case there was anything to find.
Of course, the newest generation of these families is just getting started. Corina met Coriander at one of the Community events, and was rather taken with the girl, enjoying her company and brand of humor. They were rather constant companions at any event afterwards, sitting to the side and chatting away rather contentedly. When Corina finally came of age, and Corina was asked what role she wanted to fill by her father, she volunteered to become the retainer and companion of Coriander, to ensure that the Lasalle family never lost such a valuable member. Given that this would strengthen the bond between the two families, her father had no objection to this, and had her take the oath, tying the two of them together. While Corina doesn't have as much training or experience as Coriander does, she's very quick on her feet, and thanks to her smaller size, it's easier for her to move about a room unnoticed when the two of are around, and that has led to some very direct advantages in getting rid of an opponent or acquiring certain objects or papers.
