Those supers, they keep on going.... Why ever are there so many capes?
Probably something to do with the absurd amount and variety of relics, forces, arcana, and weird geniuses lying around in these settings.
Crystal Anders is what you might call a 'tech cape'. She flies around in a suit of powered armor, saving the day with metal and technology and energy blasts and missiles and so on and so forth. Only, this doesn't quite seem to work the way you might expect.
Frankly, the terms 'suit' and 'powered armor' seem like they deserve hand quotes when speaking of her- relatively little of her body is actually covered in plating, and what there is seems more sleek and decorative, in a shiny grass-green, than it does solid and protective. It's also got very asymmetrical gauntlets, and it's unclear whether or not this was intended or due to lack of resources.
What clearly wasn't due to lack of resources is the way the underlying bodysuit spans in between the pieces of armor. Sometimes this excuse could be used, but with the tail of metal plates depending from her lower back, Crystal clearly had more material. She simply decided it would be better used elsewhere.
To be fair, she's got nothing to be ashamed of in her shape, the tall woman clearly blessed with a strong skill in The Most Common Superpower.
Damn those capes, yes? Some have brains, but all of them have beauty, haven't they? Just makes it harder on everyone else, sometimes.
