Pit is the captain of the royal bodyguards of Palutena, goddess of light and ruler of Angel Land. The dark goddess, Medusa, conquered the underworld, the surface world, and the heavens, and imprisoned Palutena. Pit escaped and, armed with Palutena's magical bow, set out to gather Three Sacred Treasures, challenge Medusa, and resue Palutena.
...Wait a minute, are you sure this creature is actually THE Pit?
No, as a matter of fact, he isn't.
'Cupid' Pit was the very first in what was soon to be a long line of soldiers created by Atnek, a clone of the angel known as Pit. He is equipped with special arrows of pink light, which causes the target to become infactuated with the first person they see, hence the 'Cupid' title. Being his first soldier, Atnek had high hopes for hm to succeed.

"I am Pit, leader of Palutena's royal bodyguards, sir!"

"Replace the true Pit, mingle with the angels and recruit them to aid in your conquest, sir!"
WHat is your secondary mission!?
"Bring mass confusion upon the humans by forcing them to fall in love with each other, sir!"
As you can see, Cupid Pit tries to take his objective seriously, even if he does still fail on occasion. However, he does get a little carried away on occasion, sometimes even going as far as thinking he's the REAL Pit. A double agent playing his role very well, or a secret desire slowly revealing itself..?
