Danila is part of a modern world which is much like our own, only there's monster girls (that includes elves), boys are also allowed. In this setting the monstergirls and vore capable humans are far and few between and while frowned upon, vore is quite legal for them since it's an essential part of who they are!
In this setting Danila is a college student who has taken up some shady ways to earn a little cash on the side, namely dancing in a stripclub. Being a bit of an exhibitionist and lewd by nature, she doesn't think much of it and it allows her to snatch up people outside of her usual social circle. "Eaten friends might be fun, but if you keep digesting them you soon won't have any." (Ancient predator proverb).

Danila can be your houshold standard monster girl, snatching up careless adventurers in any given fantasy setting. There is however an alternative! After being captured by adventurers as a teen Danila was given a choice, a trial that would probably lead to her imprisonment, or worse, execution... or she could join the Adventurers guild. Where did this idea come from? Well, you see after being captured the young lamia was put in a cage and dragged back to the guild, she noticed how inadequate the guild's knowledge about monster girls (and boys) really was. So when they came across a bunch of harpies, Danila pointed out their weaknesses, which did save a great many lives.
It was decided that Danila would be accepted into the guild under strict supervision and above all, with the understanding that she wasn't allowed to eat people anymore, a clause that was later amended to 'digest people'. Now Danila is quite happy to gobble up other monstergirls if she can catch them, which doesn't make her well liked by other monster girls and puts her in a bit of danger. For the most part she even abides by the guild's rules set out for her. It's only natural that adventurers sometimes go missing or don't return from missions, right? They probably retire to open a bar.

Whether as science officer in Starfleet, making sure the redshirt-quota is met, a force user in a galaxy far, far away or exploring the galaxy while working as entertainer, there are few limits for what sci-fi allows and I'm all too happy to indulge a lot of ideas.
