Personality

Usually easygoing almost to the point of laziness, Theo tends to be a more laid back individual this day and age, working just hard enough to get by and have a small surplus at the end of the day. He tends not to go out and look for fights in the people he meets, preferring to either smooth out or avoid any potential confrontations. This more often than not means that if one leads him on with honeyed words or a show of concessions until he's too close to avoid.

Frankly, Theo's personality is the same as the Player's, for the most part unfiltered. And it's hard to describe yourself. Just observe and get to know me a bit!

Abilities and powers

Diplomacy: Theo can usually talk himself out of situations. Or into them if this backfires. The thing to know is that he usually prefers to talk instead of fight. And if he's terribly outmatch he prefers fleeing to fighting even.
Shadow Manipulation: Ranging from changing the light levels or creating shadow puppets, Theo has a variety of cantrips at his use that make for a nice demonstration if someone insists on seeing a bit of magic.
Combat: Theo's proficiency in a fight varies widely from scene to scene. Usually it's just enough to put up token resistance or give him a slim chance of success. Fighting really isn't something the player is too interested in, unless it leads to either character development or other sorts of intimacy.

Background

A somewhat accomplished sorcerer from a faraway land, Theo often pretends to be much more powerful than he actually is. Though inexperienced, Theo has made a name for himself in his homeland through a combination of help from his allies, mistakes by his enemies, and a healthy dose of almost uncanny luck. Through all of this, it almost seems as if an unseen force watches him, keeping him from true death or eternal servitude, letting him continue his travels and accrue ever more knowledge and experience.

After months on the run, Theo met an unlikely ally, one who promised that she could help him develop his magical talents so that he would be able to do much more than simply run. And thus began Theo's training under a black dragoness. Over the coming years, Theo learned how to manipulate shadows and darkness, gaining the ability to summon shadows and create illusions, even becoming able to teleport between shadows.

On the third anniversary of his tutelage under her, the dragon finally requested a service in exchange for her teachings. Theo would join teams of treasure hunters, and retrieve artifacts of arcane power for his master. Over this time, Theo learned to charm and lie to get what he wanted, often betraying those he worked with. He was uncomfortable with such ruthless deception, but at the same time felt obligated to repay his debt to the dragoness.

Due to his habit of betraying those he worked with, after several expeditions Theo ran out of reputable people to quest with, and so he was forced to continue his tasks with darker company. These companions forced him to abandon any shreds of idealism he had left, often working just as hard to undermine his teammates to make off with his prize as he had working alongside them in the first place. As he obtained more things for his master, he began to hear rumors that the artifacts he had gathered could be used for a dark ritual, one that would bring ruin to the land and pave the way for the return of Tiamat, the Queen of Evil Dragons.

The rumors did turn out to be true. When the time came, and the black dragoness began the ritual, Theo attempted to stop her. When the portal to the Abyss opened, Theo dove in, intent on breaking the portal and preventing Tiamat's return. He succeeded, but at great cost. The backlash of magical energy fractured his mind and sent his body spiraling across dimensions. He awoke in the Nexus, but with much different personality. His skills were mostly intact, but he had lost his sense of self, looking at his own memories as if they were those of a different person. Lost and struggling with years of memories entirely different outlook on life, Theo set out to find himself in this new and strange world.

Nexus park: Working as an freelance magician/investigator/enchanter/anything that pays, Theo has to walk across the city several times a day, often cutting across the nexus park.

Home: A small 2-bedroom apartment on one side of town, with one of the rooms converted to be used for any sort of magical work that he may need.

Any sort of modern or fantasy setting: Freelance work in contemporary setting or mercenary work in any sort of fantasy realm, though the latter will be treated as in Theo's past, before coming to the shared nexus setting.
