__________For many anthropomorphic creatures, life can be rather simple. Living in the wilds, hunting, mating, defending territory, not a care in the world of technology, education, or finances. Others, like Darkantos, were never given the choice between nature and city life. Darkantos was born in Fourwinds, a city far to the north of Nexus, resting in the mountains, a vibrant hustle and bustle type of place. His parents were loving, but worked very hard, the father rarely home, and the mother seeming like she was always at school, a career student. As he grew older, he discovered he could change from his normal self to that of a non-anthropomorphize wolf. As a kid he loved to run and dash off to the city limits, and head into the wild. It was there where he felt truly free.__________Upon leaning he could change his form, his mother and father freaked out, thinking it would lead to him becoming feral, and forbade him to do so again. But he would always sneak and try to find time to enjoy it now and again. He was a smart guy in school, but barely passed his classes, teachers always informing his parents that he had 'missing assignments' or 'was not paying attention' in class. Truth was, he always assumed that one day he would be able to run away and go into the wild, and be that free spirited wolf that he desired. He passed tests, but thanks to the rest, it just seemed like he would barely graduate. His parents put their foots down, they would not have their son wind up some beast in the wilds... and they home-schooled him. He could not sneak off to change, had to pick up a part time job, and help with the bills since his mother lost her job to work on his education. Still he let his mind wander, what was he missing? Reality was, without school, going to prom, meeting women, and a complete lack of social education had left him a bit more shy than he liked. But his parents were proud now, he had graduated school with a decent education, crafted by their designs. Sadly over time, from school, to work, to spending time with family, unable to change... he lost that ability, and for the life of him could not remember how to do it. Maybe it was for the best...__________Reaching adulthood after graduation meant that his parents would be registering him at college. But he had had enough, their plans, their designs... he was not them. He told them he loved them, and took what little he had saved, and left for Nexus City. His father was angered by his decision, and told him he would never amount to anything without going to college. His mother, she accused him of wasting all that time she had put into him. His mind was set, and he was off, a new world, a new adventure... in the world of humans and anthros. His kind was always viewed by humans to be a danger, but at the same time, thanks to the Bill of Furry Rights Act, humans had to accept them just like anyone else. That did not make things any easier sadly, as people still gave predatory races of anthros glares, or worried looks.__________Reaching Nexus City was awe inspiring for him. Such huge buildings, cars everywhere, and city streets lined with both anthro, human, and even sentient feral creatures... it felt more like home should be. But it was not as easy as he had hoped. Nexus had a way of chewing up 19 year old anthros with no family. He used his money to rent an apartment, and began hunting work... but to his disgust, people just would not hire him. Either he was too under qualified, did not have 'work experiance,' or they simply said, "No wolves," and moved on. When his money ran out, he lived on the streets, and ate what he could find to survive. A small break came for him when a construction crew was down some guys, and the foreman walked over, and hired him on as a unlicensed worker. He did his job, and worked hard, got paid... and used that to attend coursed for construction. Nexus was huge! There was always someone needing something done, and he liked working with his hands. As time when on, the labor he did changed his appearance. No longer was he the cute little wolf guy... people started to see his build, forged from hard labors, muscles, strong arms... and he looked more and more like a wild predator. But with his lack of social graces, he came off more awkward than threatening most of the time, and sadly even that tended to make people think him wild.__________Years later, he learned his mother had passed away, his father blocked him from attending... and he sank into a bit of depression. He lived in a small apartment, had no car, and worked hard everyday. Thanks to his species and body, people feared and stayed away, reinforcing his lack of social skills, and he took to staying home most of the time he was off. He just wanted to make enough money so that he could do what he always wanted, leave people, and head out into the wilds, a place where it would just be him and nature. Despite these desires, he always tried his best to put on a good face, and stay open-minded. Surely someone would not run from him one day. But luck was poor with this one. It was not his fault that when he smiled, people thought he was baring his fangs. Humans just need to relax a little...
