Deathclaw Matriarchs are made up of only females. They are sometimes mistaken or called Mother Deathclaws in parts of the wasteland but they are fewer in numbers in comparison. As well they cannot produce eggs. Only one female is anointed the matriarch at a given time, with another female replacing her spot as the mother Deathclaw.
Although Deathclaw Matriarchs have less health than an Alpha, they have a much higher health then that of a normal Deathclaw. Their horns curve out and down, compared to the Alpha's forward and up. A deep purple hide with specks of gold dotted along their limbs and back.
While Mother Deathclaws are in charge with their Alphas, the Matriarch is the dominant member of the pack, the elder mother. Her decisions influence when the family eats and where, when they spend time with other Deathclaws, and when to leave the large groups of humans well enough alone.
Since old females have a lot of experience in getting the most from the environment, it usually profits the rest of the members to follow her lead. And they usually do. Good matriarchs need to balance the needs of family members so that they can stay together, and the amount of time that a family spends together is affected by the degree of conflict in individual needs. Through experience for a matriarch, they remember when to visit a particular area to feed, but also uses her experience in dealing with special or threatening events.
Matriarchs always support the Mother Deathclaw the first time they are ready to be mated, when they give birth, and in caring for young calves. While they are unable to lay eggs themselves, just far too old to do so. They still watch over the pack until their untimely demise.

Story: Fearing the eggs would perish from the cold, the Deathclaw swallowed them down in order to use her body heat to warm them. Yet when she felt no signs of improvement she sough out a heat source, thus she found Nigredo alone and unarmed. Once she had him in her grips she swallowed him down to become a internal heat source. It worked and the eggs remained safe and warm along with the odd human.

(Name given by Spike_corrupt)Description: Deep violet colors, vibrant gold color between hide. Carries around a worn cassette tape player.
Story: She carries around a tape recorder on her back that she uses to 'talk' to people with. She has a pack nestled in the outskirts of the city that's connected to the woods. So far she has met with Spike_corrupt and ate him but released him. Finding him to be a worthy opponent(Plus he smells like a deathclaw). And she has met with a naga Celebris_Velorum and taken on a fondness for her. (Even if she nearly ate the egg she was protecting). The Matriarch ran into Spike again and after a bit of a battle with the redhead; IE chasing him around and him using his bad luck on her, he manged to pin her down and calmed her. In the end he gave her a name; Violetta. Meaning Violet flower but also silly thing as a 'violent flower'
