After years of skirmishing, the invaders cut thier losses and left the Serpents to thier own devices.
So they remained for several hundred years, isolating themselves from the surrounding world, only occasionally crooping up in the public eye due to anthropolgy studies or minor border disputes.

Today, while remaining very protective of thier traditions and history, the Serpent tribe have transformed into the world's wealthiest nation, with almost everyone and everything on it's territory being part of Serpicorp International. Oil, precious and rare metals, uranium... all these resources are found within thier borders and Serpicorp is the gateway for exchanging these resources for material wealth.. and power.
Delightful is the fulcrum of all this wealth and diplomatic power, which she wields for the betterment of her subjects... but it's good to be queen, and such is her wealth that even if she gives neigh everything for her country, the miniscule trickle that she keeps for her own indulges is enough to make the wealthiest sultan seem like a pauper
