There are legends of a large creature that most think is too far fetched to be real. They tell of a large beast that is able to come and go from the shadows as it pleases, larger than any horse, but just as stealthy as a cat. Most come to call these creature, Shadekin.
Few give these stories any credit, but they are told by someone or another on almost every world with intelligent life, on all planes of existence. On a smaller scale, such stories might simply be considered mere coincidence. As it stands though a few organizations throughout the universe actually search for these creatures and have even been able to provide limited proof that they do in fact exist. Capturing a Shadekin is however very problematic for multiple reasons.
For one, the legends do not lie about their size. On average a young adult Shadekin can be thirty feet long or more and weigh over eight hundred pounds. And then there is the fact that they have this odd habit of disappearing in an instant should you take your eyes off of them, and they always seem to know if they are being watched.

Denkou is a creature of thick, soft brown fur covering his long lithe body. He seems to prefer to walk down on all fours, though sometimes he can be seen standing or walking upright. His tail is long and thick, able to curl around and grip objects just as well as any of his paws. The paws have soft pads on their soles and toes, and the for-paws do have working thumbs, though the digits are a bit shorter than what one might consider average for grasping hands. His ears are large, very sensitive to both touch and sound. They are able to fold nearly entirely closed or fan out rather widely to catch more detail in sound. Denkou's kind are very capable mimics as far as sounds are concerned. Within a few tries they can copy most noises exactly, though they might not know what the noise's meaning actually is. They are of about equal intelligence to your average human, and while they have very different priorities, they capable of reason and will. (Meaning they are not what most would call Feral.) Shadekin tend to be rather large.

Denkou is generally a friendly individual. Though, while he tends to be friendly with most everyone, his intention for them may not always be the most pleasant.

Pouch: Denkou, just like all Shadekin, has a belly pouch. It is lined with padded flesh and velvety soft fur. It is a similar sort of pouch to those found on Earth Marsupials, though it should be noted that Shadekin are Mammals.

Abilities and Noteworthy Effects;
Phase Shift: Denkou's kind are not of this world, or even of this dimension for that matter. They have the ability to fade into the shadows and disappear from our plane of existence and into others at will. There are many limitations to this ability however; They can normally only phase shift while clear view of them is obstructed. (by darkness or a wall, ect ect) Though they can force a phase shift if they are in a fairly dark space, this costs them a great deal of energy however. Also, they can not phase shift into or out of areas where they would be nearly surrounded by the life energies of other creatures. (if you happen to eat Denkou, he can't escape with Phase Shift)
Energy Absorption: Shadekin have the ability to absorb many different kinds of energy. This is how they are able to survive extended periods in the Dark with no food. They can absorb various kinds of channeled magic, a few kinds of burst magic, life energy (souls), and ambient energy from their surroundings among other types. For particularly high energy absorption they must be prepared for it, so most quickly cast magic spells can still affect them. Absorbing too much energy too quickly without being given time to process it can send Shadekin into an overload state.

Dark Recovery: Shadekin are capable of living within the space between dimensions because of their ability to absorb and process many kinds of energy. That space is often referred to as the Dark, and the energies that place exudes are easily able to be processed to perform a high energy aura throughout their body. This aura allows Shadekin who are injured to almost always make a full recovery if they can return to the Dark alive. Broken bones, torn flesh, lost limbs; All can be recovered if the Shadekin can survive to reach the Dark. The limitation to this is of course that it can only be used within the Dark. It also takes time, dependent on the level of damage.
Overload: It is unclear the extent of effects energy overload has on Shadekin. Under this condition they exhibit emotional extremes, seeming capable of no in-betweens. They also seem very gluttonous under this state, desiring to attain more energy through all means, conventional consumption and energy absorption alike. They seem also to passively absorb energy from those around them unless significant will is applied against this effect, the force with which they do this is amplified by the energy they have already stored. Overload also seems to scramble their control over their ability to Phase Shift, so while they might control when to Phase Shift, they have no idea where they will actually end up.
