Elias_Palailogos

Name: Elias
Age: roughly 18
Gender: male
Occupation: wandering scholar

Virtues are often acquired by birth , extraordinary abilities given by a long lost parent as a gift of good fortune with the promise of a great destiny, yet, exceptions often occur, this is where you meet Elias.

The Background:
1076.. Nearby Manzikert is a village, rather what's left of it. A chill, hauntingly cold wind rush along it's empty stalls in between the smoldering ashes that once were houses. With it spread the noxious odor of rotting corpses, feeble reminder of past massacres, hapahzardly dispersed around the former town hall where crows and other scavengers feast. Along the corpses lies a crying child, knelled down in front of a couple which one would assume were once his parents. This little boy is one of the numerous victims of the seljuks, pillaging through byzantine lands after ultimately crushing it's army. The little boy, like thousands of survivors in the same predicament roamed across newly conquered anatolia, seeking refuge wherever possible yet being turned down each time. Constantinople was the only place to offer solace, the easternmost fortress of christendom, where the thankful orphan learned humility.

Upon arriving the boy could only wander, haunting it's streets without purpose but to survive. By a stroke of luck, the orthodox partiarch of constantinople was around, helping the newly arriving refugees where he stumbled upon the ghastly child. Elias was offered shelter in a monastery like many and spent the following years surrounded by holy writings and the works of greek philosophers. He and others were used as propaganda figures by the emperor to rouse the spirit of the greeks; to conquer back their homeland and kick the turks out. now, a decade later, we have a fresh if a bit naive young man. While the komemnos were busy waging war, this humble young scholar went across Europe, doing pilgrimage after pilgrimage to toughen his spirit.. without any martial training.

He knows much about medicinal remedies, theological issues of his time and the scourge of iconoclasts! that must count for something right??

The character:
Elias is typically what one would call a nerdy person. Tall (6'1") with long brown hair, green eyes and a frail body with a shy yet devoted behavior toward friends. As said, he's surely not the one to approach strangers and with his frail form it'll really need some work to get someone in his nerd-gut (yet, it isn't impossible). If you were to meet him you'll probably see a sort of taller froddo baggins, holding a book of a known theocrat of the 11th century while munching on something.

Ooc: Elias is a 'naive' person conviced about humanity inner good, he can be up for any "fitting" (talk to me for further details) settings and he's mainly designed to be an evolving character.
