Epith

origins:
Epith awoke to the smell of ash and charcoal, confused he went to turn his head but could not. a short black chain coiled around his throat restricting any and all movement of his head. In a panic he began to raise his left hand to remove it. but could not as it too was chained to the stone tablet he was put upon. and that's when he heard a small cackle from behind him. The voice was certainly female but the inflection was something otherworldly. terrified Epith started to pull his hand up, the cold steel turning his hand raw. The cackling grew louder and louder and epiths hand became more and more bloody and raw until all at once it stopped and his vision faded to black. When next epith awoke he found himself atop a stone tablet in what appeared to be a Grove. The nearby trees had been cleared. upon further examination of his body epith could see ritualistic carvings throughout and when he turned to get up he found a wooden mask with two carved holes for one's eyes. he donned the mask and made his way into the groove

appearance:
Epith stands at about roughly 5'6 he has a rather lean build and chooses to wear a heavy leather tunic and gloves, cloth trousers and a long cloak covering his entire body. His hair is black and eyes glow a deep whit, his facial features are unlikely to be seen as he wears his wooden mask at all times. The mask is rather simple, having merely two eye holes and being grey aside from two red streaks that flow from the top of the mask down through the eyes to the mask's bottom.

attitude:
Epith is a stoic at heart, fearing what he has become he has decided to turn away from most and finds great solace in his craftsmanship and poetry.
despite his reclusive nature Epith is uniquely curious to most things especially those of the supernatural or non-human often seeking them out if given the opportunity.
Epith's curiosity does extend to spellcasters but only if their magical strikes a different tune with his magic sense.


Race:
The Xi-tuan are human or at least where. in Epiths home of Xerath there was a great power struggle between the magical and non-magical beings. The Nullmags as they were called were viciously experimented on by the magical creatures to such an extent that eventually the Nullmags had enough. They decided to create a new race, one that would be immune to magic and level the playing field. The result from those experiments was The Xi-tuan, the mage killers. Given that they were designed to be a weapon first and a being last, each Xi-tuan was outfitted with a mask. Each mask was unique speaking to the individual Xi-tuan's personality and speciality. these masks also served as a means to control the Xi-tuan. The idea behind the mask was simple to make each Xi-tuan believe it to be their own face and never remove it, despite the fact that their actual face remained unaffected, as well as implant a particular rune into each mask that once in contact with the Xi-tuan ritual carvings gives total control to the nearest non afflicted rune holder. One day however a Xi-tuan's rune was removed while fighting a particularly powerful mage, no longer under the runes control they ran from the fight and began a crusade to save their kin. what came next was a time of great bloodshed as Xi-tuan fought one another and the mages and non-mages in hopes of freeing enough of their kin. In the end all fronts where devastated.


abilities and equipment:

abilities:
magic sense: Epith can sense when magical entities or creatures are nearby. He feels the presence in the form of a small ringing similar to Tinnitus.
magic resistance: when Epith is about to be hit by an offensive spell the markings on his body glow in an attempt to dispel the spell. whether via redirection or absorption.
starry touch: Through much concentration Epith can focus the energy of his marks to determine the source of one's magical abilities. though the process is long and requires prolonged contact.
A Cursed failsafe: When suffering immense physical trauma or anger epiths carvings will begin to glow a deep crimson, his eyes will follow suit becoming more slitted in appearance. The carvings will compress around his muscles punishing Epith with intense pain for non-movement. While in this state Epith becomes incredibly animalistic chasing down and removing the thing that caused it by any means possible...

Epith is attuned to the study of alchemy and as such carries a great deal of potions on him
potions:
shrink potion: shrinks the user to a maximum of 1in the height disparity increases with amount drunk
growth potion: grows the user up to a factor of 10 times
recovery potion: increases the user's metabolic rates to allow for faster recovery from injury
toughness potion: increases the user's resistance to physical damage via the relaxing of the users muscles. additionally reduces their metabolic processes leading to slower recovery
Potion of mimicry: A unique potion that takes a sample from another creature,such as hair, and allows for the transformation of the user into an identical clone of Said creature regardless of gender. The potions effects are permanent and require another potion of epiths hair to cancel the effects.

Fun Facts about Epith:
1.) He has a Face! I'm currently working on getting a commission done for it but he does in fact have a face. However he is highly unlikely to show it to you unless he really trusts you
2.) he's far more human than not! In working terms Xi-tuan are basically humans with specific scars that make them immune to offensive magic and slightly stronger on average.
3.) Epiths mask is that of an alchemist! These Xi-tuan served more as specialty units being sent in only when martial means weren't enough.
4.) Epiths magic immunity has no effect on spells that cannot directly harm him or curses!
5.) Xi-tuan's can have kids and said offspring have a 50/50 chance of inheriting the curse that makes the Magic Immune, Scars and all!

if there is anything you don't want Epith to have in a scene please let me know and I'd be happy to remove it for the encounter.
player is a switch and can play pred or prey, however Epith does have a slight prey lean unless injured.
