Not all monsters are ugly and not all monsters wish to destroy. Even among magical constructs not all are created equally. In a far away land there once was a wizard that desired to rule with the power of the Gods, creating many a creature to stop those that would conspire against him. Erika was one of those creatures, a disembodied hand with the sole purpose of hunting would-be heroes and heroines and detract them from their course.

It did not want to just inhabit a temple for all of existance, eventually it began to wonder what life was like outside the walls of its domain. It also began to wonder what being a human was like, what...leaving a mundane life would be like. Whether it be a miracle or a fairy's prank, eventually the giant hand would venture outside and as it explored the world, it would eventually grow a 'body' where the arm would connect to the hand. It took on a feminine appearance, adopted a name and...became somebody. Honestly the name 'Erika' was chosen at random, the mutated monster seeing it somewhere during its--now her--travels.

Over time Erika began to learn and adapt, it became more humanlike day by day. Of course people were always wary of her no matter how pretty she became, at her core she was still a giant hand. Even if part of her body had taken on a human appearance, that of a beautiful, well-taken care of woman's hand, she was still abnormal. Regardless she still attempts to live her life as best she can, to live amongst the humans she found so interesting. Even if she was just playing pretend, she was having blast doing so. This was a lot better than the temple, a lot better than just living in a crack in a high ceiling waiting for someone to walk in range for her to grab and throw out.

Regardless of what could have been, she was glad that this was her life now. The human world was filled with plenty to keep her occupied for decades to come! The food that these humans made was delicious as well, she could eat and eat and eat! Sure she didn't exactly process food like they did but it sure as hell tasted good going down her throat. She loved being alive!
