tl;dr: super frigid, self-absorbed/self-obsessed princess with a nasty inferiority complex. hates Layabout and sees him as her rival, though he doesn't really give her the time of day. her country is in sort of a cold war with Layabout's. hates her name, but hates people that make fun of it even more. a name passed down for generations in her family. hyper-competitive and has to be the best at everything. will absolutely kill someone if they best her at something she thinks she's amazing at.

due to her size, stature, and affinity for magic, she's mistaken as a Nimbus-type cloud, as most strato-citizens aren't so... large... and... endowed... but she's actually a mixed-ethnic cloud born of her mother, the queen, having an affair with a Cumu-kingdom nobleman while trying to escape pressure of not being ableto produce an heir for the King. A male heir would have been vastly preferred, but after years with no children (all due to the king's undiagnosed infertility), a daughter was a welcome second choice- a female heir is better than no heir when it comes to the monarchy.

inter-cloud procreation is extremely taboo across all of the kingdoms; Ernesta especially wishes to pass laws that will exile not only the byproducts of these "distasteful" couplings, but also the people that choose to "betray" their home kingdoms. she even supports passing laws that will consider inter-breeding with Cumu-folk as treason. still, her mother won't tell her what's what.
