How did it end up like this, with two beings clashing over a single body that they both share? Esdel wasn't always waging a never-ending war within his own body, but rather a normal human who went through his days just like any other would. It would only change on a bout of unfortunate chance, when the human named Esdel would come face to face with something not of the world he knew: Phyx. When he found Phyx, or rather when Phyx found him, the creature was wounded and weak; practically on the verge of death. With its own body dying, it used the chance encounter to forcefully enter Esdel's body. It wasn't ideal and Phyx was missing many of the essentials that its body required, but at the very least it was a sort of refuge that they could reside in for the time being. Truth be told, Phyx didn't think very highly of humans. When it entered Esdel, it expected at the very most a day or two of struggle before the eventual release of control. However, Esdel wasn't about to give up his body without a fight.

Esdel's resolve was strong, but even that wouldn't single-handedly solve his predicament. No, he would begin to slip up. Sometimes Phyx would break free, if only for a moment or two; only for Esdel to grasp control once more. These episodes began to occur with more intensity, however, as both Esdel and Phyx began to starve. Day by day, Esdel would be met with horrible stomach pains akin to being stabbed, and Phyx's cries would grow louder and louder; practically echoing through Esdel's head. It slowly became more and more clear that Esdel's food wasn't working in coordination with his own body. Eventually, Phyx would break free long enough for the first time to hunt in nearly a week. When Esdel awoke, he would find himself sprawled out on his bed with a filled, happy stomach. What was it filled with? The flesh of intelligent life; what Phyx, and in turn Esdel needed to survive. Phyx's forceful entry has left multiple scars to Esdel's name and body, with the most noticeable being the large imprinted mark around his left eye. Sure, the human can easily play it off as being a tattoo, but that doesn't stop Phyx from emerging from the mark whenever the chance arises; coating the human's body in a shell-like substance. For now, the internal struggle still wages on between Phyx and Esdel as they both fight not only for the body, but for survival. As to who will prevail, only time will tell.
