A Tanuki from the outside world and a good friend to one Nue Houjuu. She is the trump card of the youkai and was called over to Gensokyo by Nue Houjuu during an uprising involving Taoists
. Mamizou is Bake-danuki that, unlike most youkai in Gensokyo, was from the world outside of the eastern wonderland. Mamizou herself, is a slightly impish but overall, mature and good natured woman. She likes to joke around and can be playful at times but, is never outwardly malicious or damaging with her tricks and pranks. Mamizou is a relatively friendly youkai and enjoys the company of others if they're willing to give it to her, often using the time to tell stories and have a good drink with her potential buddy.
Mamizou is an open listener and is willing to hear and (attempt to) fix whatever problem(s) someone has at that given moment. Because Mamizou was often exposed to humans, she is rather comfortable with their presence and is generally seen as being rather friendly with them. During her pre-Gensokyo days, Mamizou has been known to have helped many humans with loans and other forms of assistance. However, despite her largely friendly demeanor and mannerisms, Mamizou does have her limits of both patience and niceness. If you keep bugging her the wrong way, she's going to lash out at you.
Mamizou's ability, as per that of most tanuki, revolves around transformation and shape shifting. The exact nature of this power is that of being able to not only transform herself, but other objects as well.
