Fylakas tou Potamou ("Please, just 'Fyla.'") serves as caretaker for the lakeside gardens of Calendula's capital palace. Her job of keeping the water and plants clean sees her constantly splashing to and fro, picking up bits of detritus to ensure that guests get the very best experience possible. An unexpected (but very welcome) side effect of her hiring is the sweet singing she'll often grace her surroundings with as she works.
If ever there were an earnest, gentle soul, it would be Fyla. Nearly motherly in attitude, she delights in telling interested guests all about the various flora and decorations that adorn the royal lake.
The mermaid is a strong endurance swimmer, like most of her species; still, she's nothing expectional in terms of speed. Neither is she any kind of fighter. Instead, she relies more on her natural pleasant temperament to keep situations under control.
Despite her gentle nature, Fyla is both able and willing to eat others (though she does try to keep digestion to deserving targets unless they specifically volunteer- which happens more often than you'd think). She reportedly also makes quite the decent snack herself. Depending on when a predator catches her, she might fight tooth and nail... or happily dive right in.
