GRPT_Nexal

Head of the GRPT's Special Mech Unit

Nexal, despite his rather youthful appearance, is a Kaithiri Mech Pilot just under the cusp of three centuries old. What in the seven hells is a Kaithiri, you may ask? In his peoples' tongue, its literal translation is 'Their Children'. The Kaithiri are a race of Elves that take the mockingbird approach to parenting, shuttling their infants off to worlds where sentient life has taken root. Once they are old enough, the Kaithiri children report their findings and determine whether the planet is to be considered friendly, an enemy, or even worth contact at all. There's more to it than that, but that is basically the short version.

So, Nexal is a space-elf. He's already reported back to his people that earth, as a whole, was not worth the extra contact, though he did make a request for some military technology for the sake of preemptive preparation, in case humanity ever managed to discover him and would seek to dissect him or use him to draw out his kind. About seven years ago, though, he used this technology to construct six powerful mechsuits for the GRPT. Each took a year to complete, with the exception of the final two mechs which took about a year combined.

Nexal is incredibly intelligent and excellent at crunching numbers and solving mathematical or mechanical conundrums. However, he is a bit timid when being social with anyone but the original five founding members of the GRPT, despite his attempts. He seems to be the one holding the whole group together, holding a different bond with each of the other team members that's difficult to describe. Diana Kaizer seems particularly fond of him, though she's admitted to being quite jealous of his 'toys'.

As for the mecha themselves, they're often modified at a near-constant rate by Nexal and his small staff of eight other pilots and twelve other mechanics. The suits never seem to look the same for two encounters. When working or when around the other five founders, Nexal always seems a bit more cheerful than he does otherwise...
