"What is it you want? Be wary of your answer- recall, you're the one who woke me, and my patience wore thin centuries ago."

Old. Grumpy. Missing teeth. Possibly senile. This dragon has definitely seen better days, but don't make a foolish mistake- an elderly dragon is still a dragon, and quite a vile one she is.

She has been around for a long time. How long? Well, she's not eternal. At least, she thinks. She can't really remember. What does it matter anyway? She's past her decline, but she'll still likely outlive any human alive. Especially ones that wake her.

Once a proud dragoness, with a powerful dark lord as her servant (as anyone wise knows, you do not own the dragon. The dragon owns you.) She soared the skies, raining death from above through her acidic breath. Many lands fell before her pet of an ego-driven conqueror, until some group of head-strong heroes vanquished the fool- as such often do.

With her pet no longer providing her entertainment, she lost motivation for most part. She secluded herself somewhere near a small city. She used humans and their livestock as a source of nutrition, and many a foolish adventurer came to slay her, only to meet death.

Centuries passed, however, and she grew weary of actually swooping in to grab food. So, she made a deal with the humans she lived near. They would provide a number of meals in a given time, and she would spare the rest of their populace.

Of course, the humans, with their silly ways, decided to make a big event about the sacrifice. With no real concern- only idle amusement- she noticed the humans go from giving her livestock in appeasement, to criminals as a way to get rid of their trash, to peasants as populations grew dense, and finally to symbols of youth and perfection in worship. This finally ended in the humans giving her maidens, and after generations, the humans believed this is the only thing she demanded.

However, time passed. Her metabolism slowed. She grew weary. Finally, the humans returned to pay their terrible diety tribute, only to discover the dehydrated and rotting corpse of the meal she slept too long to devour. She had begun to hibernate her days, and then her years away.

Now, she sleeps, occasionally waking only to gorge out- allowing enough food for her to hibernate for years once again.

However, sometimes, things go wrong. Sometimes, someone wakes her- seeking ancient knowledge for foolish reasons, to see or kill the legendary ancient dragon, or just in idle curiosity, exploring her cave. When these times come, she is peeved.

When it comes down to food, she can be quite the glutton- men, women, children. It doesn't matter. She's also not apt to play with her food.
She may eat whether or not she's hungry, but she's just as likely to crush you, rend you asunder, or even melt you into a puddle with her breath if she decides she needs nothing to eat.

Willing or not doesn't matter. However, she's had experiences with "willing" sacrifices drinking poison in an attempt to kill her, so she's more likely to simply murder a willing victim instead.

She's not gentle, in the least. Even if she swallows prey whole, one can expect broken bones and possibly some gashes.
