HydraMaw

Entity: A being that is not plant nor animal, but something else. Genetically unlike anything from earth, this life form has no earthly comparison.

Sex: Neutral but seems to prefer female food because nutrients are more plentiful

Pred/Prey: Mostly predatory, but will often be playful.

Origins: Approximately 3 billion years ago, the Hyramaw arrived on Earth by comet as a seed frozen in ice. Evolved on an unnamed planet that existed in this solar system before the moon was formed, this species went nearly extinct when its home-world collided with the primordial Earth. Many planetary fragments were scattered into the solar system. When the Earth and moon were formed and cooled, a large body of ice and soil containing the seed smashed into an early ocean. The Hydramaw learned how to feed on evolving life forms in the oceans, but eventually became a land-dwelling being. Many creatures came in contact with the Hydramaw and were quickly introduced to its unique forms of stimulation. Over millions of years, many returned to the Hydramaw repeatedly to satisfy their animal needs for sexual sensations.

The Hydramaw became very adept at sensing the needs of a living thing. It was not long, before humans became a source of food. To the Hydramaw, humans are easily swayed into giving up their fluids quickly as they often mate at any time. This was a signal to migrate underground to places where humans congregate in natural settings.

Only a few know of the Hydramaw as they were not exposed to memory-erasing fluids. Such people returned to the Hydramaw daily for feedings.

It is thought that many such seeds may still be floating in space. On its original home-world, this species was the dominant life form and used the lower species as a renewable source of food.

Having intelligence and a root system, this insatiable entity must use guile to attract intelligent prey. Sometimes blossoming or exhibiting strangely shaped fruit, animals and humans are often drawn into striking range.

The Hydramaw intellect center is underground in the root system which makes the Hydramaw difficult to injure. Any parts of the Hydramaw that are broken free or removed would often grow back larger and thicker.

There are several tactics that can be used to snare prey. Smaller mouths on the tips of elongated tongues have powerful suction and lips that can expand, change shape, cup and curve around body parts. This type of attack often creates much pleasure. Rarely is pain felt unless the prey attempts to pull away. A warming sensation comes from contact with the saliva-coated lips which are very slippery at first.

A secondary saliva can be sweated from the lips any of the maws which causes the lubricating saliva to harden like an epoxy resin. This resin can lock into hair, fur or stick to skin with a powerful grip.

Once a smaller mouth has extended and latched on, the victim is tasted. The sampling can last for several minutes as any contact with another life form is greatly relished. If a victim is found to be biologically compatible or flavorful, the Hydramaw intensifies the sensory sampling with smell, taste and touch.

The Hydramaw cannot move about as it is rooted firmly into place. The Hydramaw can become dormant, and pull itself underground. Not having any organs as commonly understood, the Hydramaw can migrate very slowly and can travel great distances for food. Creeping along underground like a snail, the Hydramaw may probe the surface for food when noise or vibration is present.

The preferred method of feeding is to stay hidden and extend a feeding stem from underground while prey are sleeping. Prey often are unaware of any feeding at all when genitalia feeding takes place during sleep. Large groups of prey can be fed upon at the same time night after night using this feeding method.

Seduction is one of the Hydramaw's strengths. The ability to reach far out into the surroundings, grasp, wrap and use powerful sucking forces can feel very desirable. Even as intense as these sensations are to the victim, most victims give into their own desires before there is any frightful physical struggle. Some victims may be initially repulsed by such an attack, yet realize that some sensations are not all so terribly unpleasant. Even the most powerful and untamed animals eventually give into their own bodies desires.

The Hydramaw can enhance pleasure by attacking multiple erogenous zones on the body, such as breasts or thighs using roundish pads on the end of long stalks. Such pads have a the ability to draw in fluids such as sweat and milk. These organs along with its primary means of attack form a strong attachment to the victim. The victim can be drawn in from a distance in this manner in very much the same way a jellyfish can catch its prey.

No victim is swallowed immediately, but carefully scrutinized, tested and probed. Weaknesses are found. Erogenous zones are located and caressed, and nerve centers are stimulated in attempt to minimize struggle. Any victim that cannot be tamed, trapped, or swallowed is released.

A subtle psychic connection can be made with some creatures, either evolved on un-evolved, which intensifies skin sensations and give the prey a sensation of calm, relaxation, and sometimes lust. The Hydramaw can use a victim's own mind against them- giving the prey unexpected thoughts daydreams or memories.

The tight grasps and gentle sensations of the tendrils tips often cause the victim bliss right before the victim is drawn into a skinpod trap. These traps do not digest, but soften skin and release fumes that can cause some species an addicting numbness in the brain or back of the neck. The chemistry of the fumes evolved to interact with the animal nervous system. This scent of lavender is accompanied by powerful memories, dreams, flashbacks and fantasies.

Animals and humans are often entrapped for hours and forced to endure a trance-like state where all logical thought is removed and animal desires are flooded into the mind. Some victims only remember being swallowed by the Hydramaw, but then speak of being somewhere else or being with someone else. The victim often dreams deeply while inside the skinpod and is released when the Hydramaw has absorbed its fill of sweat, saliva, and other fluids from its victim.

Victims ejected from the Hydramaw often wake dehydrated or hungry with swollen throbbing flesh. In some un-evolved creatures, memories might be replaced with a simple memory of an close encounter with a strange creature that looks like a giant flowering plant with giant luscious fruit that smells like lavender. Such victims may return to the Hydramaw with other potential food for a group feeding.

Recently seen is a new manifestation. The hydramaw has been fed so much, that it has spawned what appears to be a juvenile creature. A walking pod seen here. Having a powerful inhale, anyone passing near would have clothes stripped away or fur plucked out by intense muscular contractions. Being insatiable like the parent, the creature does not select the prey. Anything living can be found inside its wet and warm body trap.
