Ignacia

Of the four elemental planes, mankind's fascination with the Plane of Fire is unmatched. Whereas the other elements - Air, Earth and Water - are all equally potent, Fire ignites the spark of human imagination far more readily than its peers. Men are drawn to it, beckoned to tap its power like moths to the flame. Even its inhabitants are held with a greater sense of awe than their counterparts. Denizens of the Plane of Fire are widely admired for their ferocious destructive capability, sought after by men with a lust for power. The summoning and successful control of a fire elemental is, in many magi circles, an act second only to the control of a greater demon. And so it is that these otherworldly creatures are regularly disturbed and brought into the mortal world - and that is where we begin her story.

"Why have you brought me here? To serve? I will serve you well, young master, but you'd better make it fun! This is my first time... is it yours as well?"

It was not far from this very city where she was summoned. An aspiring mage was the culprit, as is so often the case. He did not last long, enamored as he was by her beauty and power. She did not enjoy her brief time with her unworthy summoner; so, she disposed of him after completing several of the tasks he desired, devouring the unsuspecting youth whole. A fitting end for the clumsy lad, she figured, to fuel her power in the days ahead. She has wandered since then, learning much and enjoying her time here greatly. Freedom is now hers, from both servitude on this plane and in her homeland. Her likely fate back home would have been conscription by one of the great Flame Lords to fight in their unending war against the Lords of Water. Needless to say, she's in no hurry to return home.

Many of one's preconceived notions regarding elementals must be tossed aside when regarding Ignacia. In fact, she shares many more characteristics with mortals than you may have guessed. Hers are a short lived race by elemental standards, with a typical lifespan measured in decades rather than centuries or millennium. She is young and this is her first experience in the world of men, leaving her oftentimes appearing quite foolish. In many ways she acts like a child, a result of inexperience and her capricious nature. She must eat and breathe to survive (not so surprising, as any ordinary fire must do the same). Her appetite can be regarded as quite ravenous, especially after she exhausts any substantial amount of energy, and she has few limitations on what she might consider an adequate lunch. Her only great weaknesses are magic, to which she has little defense and much respect, and water, of which she both hates and fears. Rainstorms are a terror to her, and any who would help her survive one could earn a devoted ally.

This mortal world, so different from the land of her birth, is incredibly exciting to young Ignacia. As such, she is not eager to return home any time soon. Her time here has not been without difficulty, however. Her appearance has the unfortunate tendency to have her mistaken for a demoness, and often causes those she meets to flee in terror. She's learned this well and is not bothered by it, despite the inconveniences it brings. Still, she does not allow this to deter her - there is too much fun to be had to get discouraged!

"Such a myriad of delights abound this world! I doubt I shall ever go home. And you - my, don't you look delicious! What are you called?"

Her outlook on life? She is carefree and joyful, surprisingly warmhearted towards anyone who befriends her. Yet her temper is wild and her disposition might change at the drop of a hat. Humans and other mortals she finds quite fun, despite how they tend to fear or attack her. It doesn't bother her when some seem to challenge her - she loves a good fight! Magic is looked upon with mixed emotions. She is wary of its power and regards witches and wizards as a dangerous bunch in general. She has considered the idea of allying herself with a practitioner of sufficient power, should they be of the right mindset. She believes this would provide her insurance from being summoned back to her realm, or somewhere worse.

Powers and Attributes
A brief explanation of her various abilities follows. They are conveniently listed in order of the energy she must use to activate them, from lowest to highest.

Elemental Toughness (Passive): Her skin, though soft and supple to the touch, cannot be harmed by by nonmagical weapons. Arrows will not pierce her and bullets shall not slow her. An enchanted blade, on the other hand, would make her bleed crimson just like any other beast.

Elemental Immunities & Resistances (Passive): She cannot burn and suffers not from fire or heat. Likewise, the effects of both electricity and acid are muted on her.

Elemental Strength (Passive & Activated): Her strength is far beyond a typical humans, and by using reserves of her power she can magnify her already startling strength for short periods of time.

Fire Manipulation: Preexisting flames dance to her command, bending and shaping to her every desire. She can also extinguish a raging inferno with but a gesture of her hand.

Cauterize Wounds: By absorbing an existing flame she can heal wounds she has suffered with remarkable efficiency. This act does exhaust her energy reserves, however, and she must replenish herself through the noted method.

Ignite Self: Though her skin is typically only slightly warmer to the touch than an average human, the very blood flowing through her veins was born of fire. With concentration she can rapidly increase her body temperature, her skin glowing red as she becomes searing to the touch. At the extreme she can cause her very body to become living fire, a true physical manifestation of her elemental nature.

Conjure Flame: When no fire is already present, she can cause flamable objects to burst into flame. This includes people, though with a greater usage of energy.

Elemental Beast: Only usable should she truly loose her temper, Ignacia takes the form of a great wolf, 6' at the shoulders, with flames mingling and sprouting amongst her thick coat of fur. Her strength is far greater in this form, effectively matching that of a greater elemental, though she cannot maintain it for long.
