A version of the fabled princess very different from the one we know. For starters, this Belle was born a couple hundred years after the fairytale version. Secondly, the Beast did not exist in her world, leaving her to lead a somewhat ordinary life.
I say somewhat ordinary, as this Belle is just as headstrong, couragous and outspoken as her storybook counterpart. Unfortunately, without the driving force of her story, she's drifted. She's a posterchild for the Millenial generation, full of social justice and good intentions, with rather less of the motivation and determination to actually get things DONE. This has lead to her dredging along through college, doing the work she needs to not be expelled, while spending most of her time attending rallies, writing mediocre poetry and getting a lot of tattoos. She prides herself on being accepting of all people and giving everyone a fair chance. This leads her sometimes to associate with some less than savory characters.
