OVERVIEW

Iremia, as she calls herself for the benefit of others, is a spirit often mischaracterized as an embodiment of sleep. While this does fall under her purview to some extent, her true essence is that of rest, whether that be the embrace of slumber or the silence between two notes. Yet to say that she commands these would be a gross oversimplification; it is perhaps more accurate to say that Iremia is the embodiment of these concepts. While she does have some dominion over such things - able to lull people into a deep, deep sleep, for example - she is more influenced by the perception of rest as a concept than the other way around.

This is not to say that this spirit has no agency. Many have tried to bend her to their whims, and many have subsequently found themselves adequately punished for their arrogance. Some simply end up padding her waistline (or other assets), others are sent into hibernation for decades or centuries while the world turns on without them... but perhaps the cruelest punishment of all is when she abstracts herself from them entirely, leaving them to toil, exhausted, for eternity.

After all, rest is reserved for those who will not abuse the privilege.
