Iris_Arceleste

Iris Arceleste is a chameleonaga. Aside from her chromatic aberrations, Iris is of relatively normal build for a naga her age. Seventeen, to be exact.

Her tail is of a rainbow pattern, by default, ranging from red, through the color spectrum, and finally ending in violet at the end of her tail. Obviously this doesn't make for good camouflage, which is where her chameleon traits come in. Her tail can blend into its surroundings, changing colors to hide it. This does not apply to her upper, human half, which still stands out with peach colored flesh.

Growing up in the forest, hunting and subsisting off of smaller game, Iris had been fortunate not to run into many besides her mother... but when her mother disappeared one day, she was left alone. She kept quiet, kept to herself, scared and alone, and learned to hunt in solitude.

She encountered a human one day, critically wounded. He had been hunting, and injured by his quarry, separated from his weapon. Iris wasn't sure what to do. He looked a lot like her, but he also looked like the bigger game she hadn't yet been able to hunt. The hunter, knowing he wasn't going to make it home, asked Iris if she could put him out of his misery. Taking that as permission, Iris took the opportunity to enjoy large game for the first time, learning to unhinge her jaw and move prey into her snake body's stomach.

Over time, she grew more confident. She still hadn't properly introduced to kind other than her game and her mother, so her social skills are lacking. She is, however, fairly good at stalking and hunting. Only time will tell how she'll respond to actual social interaction. Now seventeen years old, Iris is bound to run into people sooner or later...

Among her skillset are typical naga/lamia fare: Unhinging jaws, an elongated digestive system, strong tail muscles for coiling, crushing and suffocating prey; but Iris has an unusual trait gifted by her chameleon heritage: a long, stretchy tongue that can become sticky, to the point of being unremovable. Through controlling glands, she can make it stick or unstick at will. It doesn't serve much purpose for larger game, but it can help snare smaller game with little effort.
